Balmain F/W 08.09 : Natasha Poly Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

isn't it kind of primitive? trying to be hip is not hip at all. i think this image is about trying a bit too hard. or maybe it's just me...
 
I'm really not a fan of this. I don't think the picture is iconicly New York. I didn't even see the empire state building because of the scale of where they shot it (ie the top is cut off). There's a real (for me) sense of desolation in the larger amount of space between the buildings and combined with the sepia tone, makes it either feel like a city in decline or a random small-medium sized city. For me, there is no energy or urgency in this. It's definitely not "luxurious rock star". Not really inspiring for me.

I like how those pants stand out even though she is standing in front of red bricks. She is perfect. Def 1 of my fave models.
