Balmain S/S 2009 Paris

oh I like this! ^_^ The crystals were in a bit of an abundance for some of the peices, but hey, whats fashion without the little bit of drama? I like the look-at-me-I'm (literally)-sparkling! vibe I'm getting off it; You can see the Herve Leger inspiration with the badage like dresses and perhaps a little bit of Balenciaga with the squarish shoulders on Raquel, Lara, Lily's etc pieces, but I think its just dandy :) Maybe its just me but the shoes look a little... flat to me. Not saying that they're not really cool; its probably because I've seen so much of the platform pumps and heels?

for those of you wondering if these sell with all the prices thing and all, this is what cathy horyn mentioned on her blog

A London retailer told me her store recently sold two of his party dresses, for about $14,000 each, online.

i would like to emphasis the word ONLINE here... people not only buy it, but they spend that amount of money on something they havent even seen/touched/tried on...
as long as people buy them, i dont think they are over prized...
the term over prized i reserve it for what goverment charges me on bus tickets (how am i supposed to use public transportation when in terms of oportunity cost, it's even even cheaper to take the car!)

dont wanna sound snobish, i am not trying to say if i'd buy them or not... i'm just saying the price has proved itself right for the market... so there you go...

LOVE the shoes ... balmain has just showed up on my radar a few seasons again because his shoes are always so gorgeous!!

it s nothing groundbreaking but it s definitly my cup of tea.
i want all the outfits with jeans, i LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM:heart::heart::woot::woot::woot:
anybody has the prices ???

someone went a little crazy with their bedazzlers. i love the colors though. however, those spiky shoulders on those jackets scare me.

echoing the sentiments of some posters here, I agree that if this exact same collection was not hyped by the french vogue crew no one would give it a second thought. was anyone raving over the Sirivannavari ss09 collection? No, even though she basically copies everything Decarnin does. I bet if she had the editors wearing her stuff she would get equal praise.
I also can't get my mind around how he copied Margiela's recent peaked shoulders(that Carine wore religiously) and attempted to make it less obvious by rounding the corners.

when the only person I can see wearing that pink dress is Paris Hilton at the kid's choice awards, something is wrong... :(

JMO.

seriously. If there was an ounce of credibility in this to begin with the faux-giela shoulders really seal the deal. Let's face it... the brand has just gained some romanticized stigma due to who has worn/glorified it.

the shoes look much nicer in detail

wish i could say the same for the actual clothes. :innocent: :(

the shoes looked good from far away... the def look a bit cheap up close :( how disappointing!

i love the shoes actually. and i loved this collection :)
