Belted S/S 08

i predicted belts and cinched waists would still be around for next summer, but i'm in shock at just how many belts are featuring in the shows - and we're only 3 days in!!! Dresses, coats, shirts, blouses - everything is belted!

I don't like the belt. It looks great on a runway but some girls in my classes, when they sit down, the belt just looks so out of place. As in, it doesn't "sit" well when you're not walking or moving.

this looseness, giant shapes and then cinched at the waist with a belt

I've noticed at a lot of the spring shows, the belts are twisted or tied, like so:

i LOVE some of these examples...
belts perplex me though...
it seems that maybe they're not practical?...

they work so well on the runway...
and i hardly EVER see people in real life who pull them off...
maybe they're just picking the wrong belts...
and they're riding up, falling down, too thick, too thin, etc...

i think you have to know how to style it..
as with anything i suppose...
