It's probably way too early to start a ss08 trend thread, but i jsut wanted to share how shocking i've found this trend that we've so far been seeing EVERYWHERE in nyc.

All the shows seem to be under some very serious romantic influence, where everything is so light (très léger), so many transparency, such a white&grey palette, ruffles everywhere, quite strong-femme everywhere...

i am thinking of Bill Blass, Carlos Miele, Preen, Marchesa, Vena Cava, Erin Fetherston.... there's even one LAMB dress and some Miss Sixty peices!!

still a lot more to come in the following weeks, but it seems pretty strong to me to this moment. I wouldnt be surprised to see this in a lot more shows, since there was lots of greys&whites&transparency&romanticism in men shows for next season

i think this comes as an even bigger surprise, because at least, i am used to a lot more street/sport wear in NY

I quite like this new trend - like mixing different tones of whites, creams, ivories and greys..

i made a thread on it too.. mostly based on the colours

I wonder what it's supposed to mean? Usually the trends are created with ideas on how society/the rest of the world is functioning at the moment.. It seems more like it's about softness, things poetic and a bit soft melancholy kind of romanticism... Maybe all about silence--that's the feeling I get looking at a few of the collections

Sorry didn't say, my above photo in #3 is Y and Kei

just got back from a long weekend and i am happy to see there's more... i'll try to post pics asap

i'm sorry bora... but i can't see the trend within the pictures you posted... ok for the big gowns à la Rochas era Theyskens... but the rest...?

The romanticism seems more like the calm before a storm. The soft light breezes and and dead silence before an aproaching tempest. Question? What can that tempest be?
