Better hair without conditioner?

It could be because your conditioner has a lot of silicone in it - have a look at the ingredients and anything that ends in 'cone' is a silicone.

This is true. Almost all build-up is caused by silicones. But actually, one of the toughest silicones to cleanse--cyclopentasiloxane--doesn't end in 'cone'. Another one to avoid is dimethicone. Some shampoos actually have silicones in them too (like Redken,) which is kind of crazy.

Unfortunately I lost my list of silicones and their solubility. That was very helpful... I like to use Matrix Biolage Conditioning Balm, which has no silicones. But that's just me.

Nah... I do have to use conditioner each time I wash my hair otheriwse it doesnt looks as smooth. And 2in 1 dont do the trick for me so I usually use a shampoo and then either a conditioner or a hair mask.

most shampoos actually strip the hair (unless you use a natural/organic product like alba, jason, burts bees, etc), and conditioners protect the cuticle and nourish the hair, so that's odd that you'd find the opposite true. i have curly hair, and if I didn't condition...eek
guess you have naturally very very healthy hair then! :D

I often reverse the order: conditioner first, shampoo last... but I never skip conditioner.

My hair is prone to greasiness, something conditioner only worsens, so I've gone years without using any at all. These days I do use a small amount occasionally, but even then it's twice a week at most and only on my ends. To me, there isn't a significant difference when I use conditioner compared to when I don't: My hair is a mess of tangles either way!

I use a sulfate-free shampoo bar which is moisturizing enough, so I don't need a conditioner. Now I hate using regular shampoo.

i think it depends... its like if you dye your hair or not... some extra repair things are cool... for example im so fascinated by liquid keratine lately... its also the kind of style you wanted to get... i guess its better use certain products now and then... and not always...

i don't use it most of time, but i love how softly they get when i use it, it depends on hair type yeah

I found out the opposite less shampoo and more conditioning. It really depends on hair type.
I noticed that too! Really can't go without conditioner because my hair is SO stubborn and I wouldn't be able to comb or even get my fingers through it without conditioning. So, I usually use very little shampoo but more of the conditioner (which I only use on the lenghts btw, never on my scalp - that's what I was told by my hairdresser), leave it in for some minutes and rinse it out.

my hair is so much better without any coonditioner.
i never changed color or anything. my hair is very dark, almost black and it shines the most when i don't use conditioner

I tried not using conditioner a few months back but my hair became unbelievably frizzy. Also everytime I straightened or blow-dried my hair it would literally stick straight out . So I can't skip it.

My hair would catch on fire without conditioner !!! OMG, never enough conditioner with my dry, frizzy, curly hair. Would have to put a bag on my head otherwise.

I only use conditioner on my ends...I used to put conditioner all over but it caused oilyness and static to my hair.

I've notice that too much conditioner could make my hair look like 80s :blush:if i don't straight it up later hahahaha ...its awful:lol:

i have curly + very dry hair ... they are a real mess.
i've only started recently to use dedicated (cheap) shampoo + a conditionner both for my hair type. and they are well more good, now. not yet perfect. but they look kind of better than before. i also use karite or coconut butter once a week - at night only.
i want to make them grow a little to see how it fits me. with shorter hair i don't need all this !

Up until July I was blindly pouring conditioner onto every inch of my hair and I always thought my hair was so gross because I didn't wash out the shampoo and conditioner well enough. Then I realized I needed to use conditioner sparingly, and not in moisturizing form, and keep it away from my bangs and roots my far. My bangs would grease up so easily and just separate. I use a conditioner for color treated hair now and I still feel like it's necessary, but I'm very mindful of it now. I've just recently embarked on a mission to improve my hair to improve my grooming habits and fix up my appearance so I'm open to all suggestions to groom a glowing mane.
