Singaporean based Chinese Indonesian Designer, Harry Halim.
Graduated from Lasalle-SIA College of the Arts.(my school)
He is my friend. I was backstage at his show at Singapore Fashion Festival 2007 ( it is like a major fashion event in singapore yeah..). I thought his collection is beautiful and very wearable. I saw the pieces itself. The photos does not do justice! it is nicer looking in real life. The theme for this collection is Bipolar Disorder. He kinda think he has bipolar cos of his mood swings. that probably explains the electric blue and black colours.


What you guys think? He does not know Im posting his photos on this forum. and this is my first post! after stalking and lurking around for more than a year. hheheh

Thanks for sharing Mr. Halim's work, Micht! There are little details that I like in this collection - the swing of the fringe, the cross fold of the tucked in shirts, and the obvious wearability of almost every single piece. The use of pearls is also marvelous!

Do I detect some velvet here and there? I am hopelessly in love with velvet and silk. I wonder if Mr. Halim is using fabrics with some sense of ecology - silk, linen, rayon - renewable resources?

Please post more of his work, if you have access. And if he has an online site, that would really be great to know!

aw i love the collection! i am indonesian as well and happened to know harry's friend, nina nikicio (she has her own label as well, named "nikicio").

harry is really talented!

yeah its velvet. i dont know why velvet always looks bad in photos. the fabric he used is actually really beautiful.

yup the show was by invitation only.. i was lucky cos she asked me to help her dressing the models.. i've seen her previous school works as well.. tres fab!

i think the whole collection showed at studio prive fashion show are on sale, thats what ive heard.

i went to this boutique at haji lane (i forgot the name is) and i saw few pieces of Bias II by Harry Halim.. amazing details i must say!

hahaha i happened to be studying from the same school as Harry and Nina. (but i dont know Harry though)

i was at the studio prive show as well. thought it was quite bland but a few pieces did stand out. a jacket i saw is really nice i have the picture. but too bad i dont have a scanner! its on my wall now though.

and the jacket..was it the see through jacket? i saw the picture from the design taxi article. and it's really nice.who's the designer?

oh btw nikicio stands out becos of the embroidery rite?

i'm from lasalle as well but am taking graphic though.. would love to study fashion in the future. hey micht you're studying fashion then? our school is moving to new place yea? hahah

limeaddiction, nikicio is rather casual on the designs and the designer herself wanted it to be easy and wearable.. yup the embroidery is reaaaally pretty, she made it by her own thread per thread.. i love the whimsical imagery.
