Björk

^ I have never heard her say that she isn't proud of it....
I have heard her say it mostly sprang from anger and such emotions.
I can't imagine she isn't proud of it...
she still does so many of it's great songs live.

Yeah I can understand BodhiTree's pain. A lot of people say Medulla takes some time to get used to, to like, but ever since I bought it (was it years ago? I'm bad with time) I still don't like it. It's too much shocking music to me. I only like maybe 3 songs, favourite being Oceania:heart: I guess it's a lot 'harsher' than her previous albums, like there are loud sounds in it that get to me. I think Homogenic had this kind of dark vibe to it too--I remember she says she's not proud of that album.

Bjork never said she wasn't proud of her albums...:doh:
and never Homogenic!
... I don't like Medulla, too... a lot of fans declared they "lost" Björk with this album (and DR9, too), eventhough I like WITL, Komid, Show me forgivness, Who is it and TOAH

Desired Constalation ( spelled horribly- sorry) is one of my fave Bjork song's...
esp. live!

Medulla is a fantastic composition of sounds and voice work, and just because it strays from mainstream rhythmic compositions doesn't make it less, but of course this is a matter of what your ear prefer and how open your ear is to "new" soundscapes.

Desired Constellation is a breathtaking song, brokenenglish! ...

And for her new album she has altered her sounds again, and it's as beautiful, just different, to my ears! ...

I love "Sonnets / Unrealities XI" from Medulla so much! Medulla was really great when I think about it.

Ok :p She doesn't literally say she's not proud of Homogenic... Here's a couple of things she's said about the album, that I found on about&about on her website

I know it sounds crap, but this album is the most me yet. But my friends tell me not to fool myself. The only thing that will surprise people from me is if there are no surprises. I don't really care. I'm on this mission to get all this sh*t out of me that I was born with and just learn to express it I feel like I'm only ten percent there.

Being happy with Homogenic
Yeah, happy's probably not the right word. I'm still fixing it. I've got maybe 18 songs that are very different from each other, so the album could be ten tracks, maybe... It seems the more Mark and I work together, the more ideas we get.

...I just got back from her concert, she is a GODDESS:heart:...AMAZING, I thought I'd died and went to heaven...she did not disappoint but surpassed my expectations since it was my 1st ever Bjork live experience...I found my new fav from "Volta" : Wonderlust...:heart::heart:

^You went to the Vancouver one, by any chance Kiddokiddo? I know Bjork can't be in two places at the same time :p I hear she was here... I couldn't go though

Please tell us about it! And her costumes  Did you take photos?

After getting the entire album and listening to it, it's a nice listen the first time through, but it does not impact me like her previous ones. For this, I am quite disappointed. -_-

^gius, yes I was at her Vancouver concert at Deer Lake Park, such a perfect venue..Stupid me, my camera didnt have any battery when I was tryin to take photos, so mad.....but if u search on Youtube, ppl have posted a few clips....She was wearing a glittery grey draped, pleated winged dress over over colotful crocheted pom pom pants. She also wore a matching crocheted pom pom headgear with tassels, sorta like a Chinese Opera Artist headgear, which she took off later...her forehead was painted saffron...She was visually stimulating......and Don't let me get started on her live show...it was nothing short of PERFECTION:heart::heart::heart::heart:

Me too, "disappointed" in deed! I want my money back :judge:

Thanks kiddokiddo I just saw a bunch on livejournal. You're right about the pom-poms! Her leggings were very cute! I'm surprised it was held right outside...on the grass!

MOJO Award Winners 2007

Ozzy Osbourne, Arcade Fire, Alice Cooper And Iggy Pop were amongst the winner’s who picked up MOJO awards at the annual ceremony last night. Held at The Brewery in London’s East End the star-studded bash also played host to the likes of Noel Gallagher, Slash, Nick Cave and Damon Albarn, who picked up a gong for The Good, The Bad And The Queen’s debut album.

Arcade Fire fought off stiff competition from Arctic Monkeys and The Who to scoop the best live act gong whilst Ozzy was received the revered MOJO Icon Award from his hometown hero Roy Wood.

Elsewhere Iggy And The Stooges and The Doors both received Lifetime Achievement Awards with the latter dedicating their gong to Jim Morrison in a moving acceptance speech.

And Joy Division were deservedly recognised for their Outstanding Contribution To Music with an emotional Peter Hook dedicating their award to the late Ian Curtis.

Ike Turner jetted in to receive his Legend Award from Damon Albarn, who led the 75 year old off the stage by hand, and Bjork scooped the prestigious MOJO Inspiration Award for her diverse and distinctive musical style.

The awards ceremony was an opportunity for some of the old greats to catch up with some familiar faces, with many of the attendees gushing about their fellow contemporaries.

From Alice Cooper and Slash proclaiming their shared desire to collaborate, to Nick Cave effusing about his band Grindermann’s forthcoming gigs with Suicide (who he presented the Innovation Award to) and The Clash raving about Amy Winehouse (who arrived an hour late to pick up her Best Song Award for ‘Rehab’) the night was one big music-legend-mutual-appreciation-society.

And from showbiz.sky.com:

Bjork was given the Mojo inspiration award and said: "In England there has always been such appreciativeness of me.

"It was the first country to get me, because in Iceland even back in my teenage years they thought I was a bit weird."

I love this old picture of her. :flower:
