Black Models At The 2009 Shows

This is cool, you don't see too many show featuring black male.
but still, i hope there is more black female models in big shows.

With all the supermodels for Fashion Week in Rio/Sao Paulo, 1 new girl stood out: Gracie Carvalho, 68 shows

Im disapppointed that there havent been as many black models at the HC show.

Givenchy did a decent job not Chanel and Dior

with all the buzz surrounding VI and the push for more diversification; seems like it hasnt had that much of an impact.....

Maybe we we're hoping for too much. Not every client will change so quickly.

But look at Givenchy Haute Couture - the first 3 looks were non white models (2 black girls - Jourdan and Sessilee the VI July cover girls). That would not have happened without the VI issue.

Couture shows are usually less diverse than RTW. I'm not sure why that is. Maybe it's because few black women purchase couture? It's mostly super rich of european descent, or from the middle east or east asia. There were 2 asian models at Chanel HC (3 if you count Bruna Tenorio) so I think targetting the consumer comes into play.

The menswear shows did improve and I expect the womens RTW shows will be better than HC. People haven't even had a chance to read July VI

Here is that girl from Cathy Pill again at Georges Hobeika's show

This isn't a HC show...I think it just coincides with HC week.

I know its kinda unrealistic to expect that things will chnage straight away ( the issue isnt even out yet ) but its still very annoying to not see that many black models.

Ill wait for the next Fashion Week to see if things have chnaged.

Yasmin is amazing
