Blackheads

I put those Biore pore strips on my boyfriend sometimes... it seems to help. (he would probably kill me if he knew I was posting that on the internet)

My boyfriend snapped a picture of me a couple of years ago with that on my nose.....I haven't used them since and the picture is somewhere secret where I can't find it. Hmmm---bribery?

that's not a bad idea.... he's got a few bad pics of me. I am sure I could get 1 or 2 back in exchange for a pic with one of those on his nose.

I think they were actually created for men... they don't seem to do anything for me, but when you take them off his nose it's disgusting!

yeah. Just spritz it on your nose or spritz it all over your face. I do the whole face being careful around the eye area. I also use Trader Joe's Desert Essence Thoroughly Clean face wash with organic tea tree oil and awapuhi. I love, love, love it. :woot: It really cleans up the oily spots without drying my skin out.

if i sprayed it all over my face, would it aggravate it and make me brake it?how long do you leave it on for?

It could aggravate if you leave it on too long. This is what I do/have done:

Once a week I cleanse, exfoliate, and then put fresh lemon juice on my
face for 5 minutes followed by a clay mask, then a mosturizing mask.
When you first start using lemon juice, you must only keep it on for 2
minutes for a month, then increase it by a minute each month until you
reach 5 minutes. This allows your skin to "get used" to the acid. I've
been doing doing this for 2 years now and black heads have decreased
enormously, but best of all I'm not getting any new ones.

One thing more: Don't use the lemon mask more than once a week.

I dont have any face masks,or exfoliaters so would it be ok for me to use it still?Ive got a cleanser toner and moisturizer from the olay range, and ive got this acne treatment gel called Freederm which i put on day and night.

Any effective ways to remove blackheads?

Hello,

Are there any effective ways of removing blackheads from the face, I have some small onces around the nose area - difficult to see unless quite close.

Anyone got any good product advice or tips they could pass on please? :brows:

Thank you.

I think that would be fine. The lemon juice exfoliates for you.

so you don't have to do anything but put lemon juice on right?

Just lemon juice could be a bit too harsh if your skin is in any way sensitive..try to add some honey to the lemon and you should be okay :flower:

Thanks, lele and Elle Glamour. Facials are for girls though...way too embarrassing for a man.

I beg to differ, Prince! The actual act of PERFORMING facials is generally for girls, although there are a small handful of men (myself included) who are licensed estheticians...but the actual facial itself isnt embarrassing at all--trust me, about 20% of my clients are males.

So, having said that--what's stopping you??

I know a lot of people have recommended squeezing the blackheads out, but I would certainly not advise that . This method will work only temporarily- you'll have to keep doing it over and over again. Squeezing forces any dirt or oil at the base of the pore further into it. When you think about it there is no way you can squeeze everything out- it’s just not physically possible because you are applying pressure downwards and inwards. It will also enlarge your pores because of the physical stress you are applying to the area. However, steaming is a great idea because it promotes circulation of fluids out of your pores- and along with water and salts, impurities and oil from blackheads are also carried to the surface. A clay mask, although it sometimes has a drying effect, also works in the same way. Exfoliation works really well too because it removes dead skin cells and promotes circulation in the affected area. A combination of these should hopefully help!

omg i second this. i used to squeeze mine (the bf taught me how..how sick is that ewwww haha) but it does make things worse. immediately after, u are red and inflamed usually. and yes sometimes my skin would actually peel a day or so later. over time it just gives you so many blackheads you never knew you could have!

i have really sensitive skin and tons of blackheads on the nose (had blackheads haha) and i find that using a gentle (i.e. non-abrasive) exfoliating wash such as the one made by "Aqua Glycolic" brand (my derm recommended it, and it is far better than any other grainy exfoliants i've tried..which as one poster noted work against you) and the Aqua Glycolic toner along with Retin-A micro consistently for about 4 to 6 weeks..they will be gone. you have to be reallllly patient but it is so worth it. and you won't be tempted to squeeze again ;)
