Brands: Show them or Keep them?

Yeah, you are:wink: I'd say don't worry about that red line, it's not like the thing would just be plain boring with out it, it doesn't have to be there and how ironically, that's just what makes it acceptable:smile:

Nowadays there's like a ton girls at my school carrying those patterned Gucci and Coach bags with the logos everywhere. There's also the people who would wear their Coach shoes to P.E. :yuk: Man, the more logos they have, the more they think they look so "pimpin" or whatever. Seriously, I think they appear more like trying hard wannabees! I don't mind one small logo somewhere on the shirt but I think too much looks a bit cheap. There's also those fake handbags (like those Louis Vuitton bags) nowadays so sometimes you can't tell if one is real. It's so annoying, really. *sigh* ^_^

yeah I really hate shirts that have big logos on them, purses aren't as bad....
what about jeans with logos on the back pockets??

I really like simplicity on fashion. I prefer those normal back pockets though with only tiny tiny logos.

I used to know someone who insisted on wearing a GAP scarf , but making sure that the GAP label stuck out so everyone knew she bought it at GAP because you know GAP is a really sought after label haha.

Quite often I see girls with one piece of blatant designer clothing/accessory , like there was a girl on my bus yesterday dressed really plain but clutching onto a Chanel bag as if her life depended on it , same day I saw another girl with a Chloe Paddington bag but again wearing a plain outfit...it is sort of weird. By plain I don't mean bad I just mean like a basic top or jeans.

Logos are only acceptable if they are part of the design. I don't know if that made much sense, but I'm talking about stuff like the LV bags everyone has. I don't like those personally but I think things like that look better than say, a t-shirt that just says "Dior" on the front.
Yeah, I just don't see how the LV logo is at all attractive. I wonder if people would still like it if it wasn't Louis Vuitton. I'm guessing it might be viewed as ugly then.

Ah yes, sending the message, "Hey, look everybody! I bought this where all of you buy all of your boring clothes! We all fit in together! Yay, let's all accept each other and be friends!!!!!"

I'm with you, Tott. I have a couple hats that have a tiny "Dolce & Gabbana" label in the back, and I hate that so much! You'd think it's small enough that people won't notice, but people are always like, "You're always wearing really nice stuff like Dolce & Gabbana!" And I'm like, "Well, actually I hate Dolce & Gabbana, but yeah...thanks." I'd remove the labels, but I'm going to sell them someday, and that'd be bad for resale. Anyhow...yeah, labels - no matter how small - are a nuisance.

is that a bad thing?
I usually wear just one recognizable designer item (if any) at the time..and most often it'll be my handbag.. If I use my paddington, I rather use it with a basic top and jeans, than with something else screaming designer. Just beacuse your bag was 1300$ doesn't mean your tee can't be 25$.

The fake LV's and the big Dior logo sunglasses are big here though. Although it's expensive, it still screams tacky instead of classy to me..

Haha no course it's not a bad thing. If I see someone head to toe in brands it usually makes me cringe I guess what I meant was that the rest of their outfit didn't seem to go ...if that makes sense without coming across as offensiv it was like they had deliberately dressed down so people would notice but they were nice handbags. If ladies who love shoes are Imeldas...then what do we call the ones who love handbags ?

I've never been a fan of LV hangbags , I quite like the cherry ones though.

I know what you mean. And I always think it's weird how a lot of girls wear very plain or boring or cheap-looking outfits, then carry a super-expensive bag. It's like people think that an expensive bag or an expensive pair of shoes is what will make them look good or give them style. I will just never understand girls who buy all their clothes from stores like Old Navy or the Gap, then wear designer accessories at the same time. I saw a girl recently with an awful outfit and an LV bag. Does she think the bag makes up for her complete lack of style and taste in clothing?

^^yes, I understand what you mean.. And I agree that an expensive handbag doesn't mean you're stylish at all. The great example of that being the whole tracksuit thing with LV/Gucci logo bags and big logo sunglasses. What I meant is that I just think it's better to wear a plain tee and jeans with a designer handbag than to wear head to toe screaming designer logos and still looking tacky.. I think we agree  at least I agree on what you said:D

........but I always feel self-conscious when I'm wearing them.........

i feel the same.

i will see a piece of clothing that i like and get all excited, only to put it back down when i notice the silly LOGO on it.

logos should be discreet, and in 9 times out of 10 they should be on the tag only!

im sorry, but for us perfectionists out there, a brand logo completely ruins the aesthetic of the piece. :yuk:

i think that this is what some wearers hope this look means: ''i am rich and can therefore get away with wearing an old tracksuit out, i have probably just been at my pilates class overlooking the ocean anyway''

but it can sometimes come across as: "i scraped every penny to afford this bag. my outfit demonstrates that i have no fashion sense whatsoever, but my designer bag makes me look classy. doesent it? am i cool now?"

Yes, Therese and Copper, we're in agreement. Karma for both of you. :D

it seems quite obvious to me that fashion is a very versatilely usable concept. One certain function is to communicate that one belongs to a certain social class - that's what all these ugly logo print stuff is for. It allows certain individuals to silently scream out : 'look here I am newly rich or at least I try to look as if I were' The lack of other qualities like indiviality or aestehic beauty of these items implies to us that this silent scream is the only goal of the person who wears such a thing. which again points to a certain hollowness or at least a very onesided use of the possbilities fashion offers us. in this spirit : please hide

On a more serious note, I think one should choose one's clothes purely by aestehic preferrence and thus in the best case express a bit of one's personality with them. but it is quite hard to find nowadays especialy assesoirs without overvisible logos, because also fashion companies are global corporations with well thought out marketing strategies to earn more money. So to me logos are an evil one has to live with, but not someting one can be proud of. one can be proud of the choices one makes and how one puts them together etc - but logos - I just don't get it.....

Thankyou for articulating what I was trying to say haha.

i live in the country where 99% of logo-ed things you see on the street are fake - so i'm triyng to avoid them in eyewear, bags or shoes [not to speak on clothes:sick:]

where exactly in germany r u from satin chic?
I'm from Oberhausen which is in North-Rhine-Westfalia in the west. It's near Cologne and Düsseldorf, if that means anything to you.

I think that the only logo shirt I would wear (besides polos) would be the Ralph Lauren Pink Pony sweater. At least with that you are advertising for a charity and not just a designer.
