Brands: Show them or Keep them?

I don't agree with you on that point... A logo is a logo, there's no such thing as a classy logo or a tacky one in my opinion....

I am very scared of logos.... I usually tear them off, if I can't I'll use a permanent black marker to hide them... Yes, I am obsessed with hiding logos... :ninja:

I disagree. I think that logos can look classy, as long as they are not all-over. Take a look at the bee for Dior Homme...

...would i prefer the shirt w/o it - Yes - but I still think it is a nice shirt.

And lacoste...the alligator is a classic

...those are just a few examples.

i think logos just look tacky. i mean, a little label here or there's understandable, since the designer may want to be recognized for their masterpieces.

big, obvious logo-ed things make me gag.
big, obvious knockoff logo-ed things are infinitely worse.
i avoid logos like the plague. if it's tiny and pretty much hidden, something that a person glancing at you wouldn't see, well, then, okay, i'm not going to go crazy about it. otherwise, i wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole. nothing can be more tacky than a big, pink, dior logo bag (again, infinitely worse if it's fake).

well to each there own.... it still IS a logo...

It's like wearing a signature designer bag... for example the balenciaga motorcycle bag... what's the difference btwn that an a bag with tons of LV logos all over it....!?

I don't see it....

Well people would wear a motorcycle bag because they like the design of it. They like the shape, the details, etc. For LV, most people just wear it for the monogram.

But because of its popularity the design became a logo...I loved it 3-4 years ago, but now it just screams balenciaga/nicole richie. Such a shame

I don't wear LV just for the monogram. I wear it because it represents old world to me ,timelessness, and supreme quality.

I know this comment could start a wildfire, but does anyone see being anti logo, ripping labels out clothes, etc. as being a "trend" in and of itself? It just seems to me like this is trying too hard to be "antifashion or trendy" instead of just wearing what you like, logo or not. I honestly don't see it as being more noble than following any other trend. Besides, if you really like a designer enough to buy his or her clothes, is it all that terrible to show a logo of that designer on what you are wearing?

Well, pixie... Then it sounds like you're wearing LV for a good reason, sort of.

Anti-logo is a trend, there's always reactions to everything...

I try to avoid logos myself, but I can and will accept them if they're discrete. I wouldn't rip off the Moncler logo from my down jacket, or file away the Prada's from the hardware of bags (and no, they don't have visible triangle logos)...

I *do* wear what I like, but I also avoid huge logos like Prada's all-over ones. I was trying to think recently of one visible logo that I wear ... aside from printed buttons and maybe a leather jeans patch, I couldn't think of any. It's not that I'm religiously avoiding them (except for the really obvious ones, like I can't handle initials hanging off shoes), it's just that when I follow my taste I end up with a wardrobe without them.

The women in my family are the same way ... I can't remember any of them ever wearing logos, and some of them wear designer stuff. My first impression of LV was in college when half the girls had Speedys. So to me LV invokes the herd mentality of freshman girls :innocent:

See, I think it's great to pick what appeals to you and if you aren't gravitating toward logos at all or certain types of logos, it sounds like avoiding them is a good idea. I just dont understand going out of your way to avoid them just to make some sort of statement or because others think it is tacky.

Wear what you like, logos or not. That enough to me is good reason.

Logos that are 'IN-YOUR-FACE' are just too-much !
i like classic one.Like seeing-double said the cute lil Lacoste aligator would be cool

Completely agree that logos are rather annoying. If you want to go designer to PROVE something I don't see why they don't just get designer peices without the logos. I mean authentic designer peices.

One: They look much more authentic
Two: ...because no one buying a fake would get a fake without the logo as the whole point of buying a fake is to show off.

I try to avoid logos in general though for some peices or bags they are just inevitable. I have this simple Micheal Kors cotton tee that I wear to the gym a lot, it's got the words "Micheal Kors" in gems accross the chest. Inevitable because I absolutely love it. So comfortable.

I LOVE my spy bag for one thing because it doesnt have that really ugly Fendi logo splashed all over it. The interior I can handle. Another reason I love it is because it took me a month and a half to save up for the damn thing.

Point being

I think logos are just BLECH esspecially the god aweful LV or Gucci ones, I'm not even sure I appreciate the large Chanel logos on the Cambon bags. Perhaps hating them is a trend on its own. Who knows. I know I avoid them to avoid looking like I'm one of the many unappreciative people to the fashion inustries designers who goes out and purchases $20 fakes. Even if I have to save up forever to purchase a peice I love (as I only work an average part time job at a pharmacy..ugh) I will do it out of pure respect for the designer.

Sorry. End of rant.

I don't avoid/hide/take off logos because it's cool to do that.... I don't like logos because I am not a walking billboard for X company... To me it goes way beyond being trendy/tacky.... I am not trying to make a statement at all! I find it ridiculous to do free publicity for a label (because that's what logos are for) without being paid to do so...!

I agree with everyone that all over logoes like the pink dior or LV are tastless.

I dont mind little buttons or patches on jeans though like fashionista said though, or the lacotse aligators that seeing double brought up. Theres more to the piece than just the logos and they're pretty discreate. It's not like an all over logo or the brand in huge letters across the chest.

I also think theres a big difference between a logoed bag and an it bag. I wouldn't wear a zucca spy becuase I think the logoes are ugly and distract from the shape/design of the bag, and most logoed bag are canvas which is really yucky comapred to leather. I love my regular spy though. I think it's wrong to believe that people just buy it bags to show off that they have an it bag, some of them are really nice IMO.

I think logos are best when they're minimal. When they get too out of control- size wise or number wise- I find it takes the beauty out of the pieces. At least in my opinion.. lol

I'm not a fan of huge logos. I don't want to advertise the fact that an animal died to make me a purse which is why I tend to avoid designer bags-the fact that most of them are leather and many stamped with huge logos or flashy things that scream out the brand.

Like for D/G shades, a small logo is fine. And Lacoste is a classic as well as the polo rider on Ralph Lauren dress shirts.

Logos bother me when they are the design. Like a t-shirt that would be just a plain t-shirt if it wasn't for the logo. Usually it is just used as a way to show off. The other day at school a girl was wearing horrible LV ballet flats, I believe that were light blue with white "LV"'s all over them. I don't mind a small logo on a purse, sunglasses, etc. or on a polo/dress shirt.

i don't buy designer anything really, so logos aren't an issue for me. that being said, i hate them. why would i want to drop 1500 bucks on a bag that had someone's tacky logo sprayed all over it. in my opinion, everyone should get paid to carry stuff like that, it is a walking advertisement for the designer.

i prefer to buy off name clothes that i like and mix and match. i can't afford designer anything, and don't feel that my style is lacking without it.
