Levi’s jeans® innovative design team is busy at it again, this time creating a new movement in denim - an unconventional cut of Japanese inspired jeans for all the crazy kids out there. Appropriately coined “The Carrot” due to the streamline cut, baggy upper thigh and tapered ankle, this is not a jean for the faint hearted.

Taking inspiration from the Tokyo’s underground subcultures, where you create your own identity through expression, creativity and individuality. The Carrot jean available for both men and women is perfect marriage of skinny & slouch and can be tweaked or customised to reflect the unique style of the cool Carrot customer.

Simply add your own unique quirkiness to the Carrot jean and create outlandish style previously unseen here before. Designed for the non-conformists, almost anti-fashion victim, Levi’s® Carrot jean brings fresh attitude to an otherwise tired and drab denim world.

Levi’s® Carrot jeans are RRP$169.95 for both Men and Women, available from April 2006 from select independent retailers for stockist call 09 309 0319.

those levi's aren't really extreme enough, but i like the look of this style, i'd definitely adopt it if found cheaply enough.

just wondering aswell, how difficult would it be to tailor some baggy jeans into this style?

I love Jodhpur pants, but I think they work better as jeans if the cut is more subtle like the levi's.

hmm, i like the first style posted just they way its worn in that pic, on a guy..
the acne ones dont look too jodhpur to me, they see like skinnies with extra long leggs

in anyway, i like new jean styles, those are fresh
thanks for bringing this in, karma for fashionologie :king:

Are these what you call a carrot jean?

...Im not sure about this, I'm sure it can be pulled off, but the pictures as seen aren't the best.

I can definitely see the japanse influence, ive seen a lot of pictures of Jap. guys in them.:P

I have some from Michiko Koshino. These jeans have been around in Japan and Hong Kong for yonks! The carrot shape is WAAAY more extreme though than the ones that have been posted here.

^ susie, i want to see, if you grab some pics, please share.. this whole thing is new to me

These seem extremely unflatting on most people, it's like skinny jeans are unflattering for lots of people becuase of the tapered ankle, but these more bulk to the top making them even harder to pull off. I dont usually really like bagy jeans, but it's a cool new option.

I like the Levis ones, I could see myself wearing those.

I don't care for the Cheap Monday ones pucci_mama posted (no offense :flower:), the contrasty stitching and (IMO) excessive detailing is not my thing.

Can anyone see these jeans working with heels at all? If so, what type of heels?

I think they are cute.
It's actually a design already been established. They aren't "carrot pants." They are called "breeches," used by people who ride horses. You can find a lot of photos online with people wearing them in England. I've seen army uniforms also with them. But anyway, these are nice that they're using better fabrics and colours:P

i love love love them. I know a few american companies who have tried to bring this style back... im not sure how the mass majority will take it considering they are going to be at levis, better get them before they leave!

gius- you are right of course...
but it seems that levis is using some clever marketing to make this seem new for young consumer...

unfortunately...i think 'the carrot' sounds FAR from cool...
but i can imagine they could LOOK cool...
B)...

:P...thanks for the post fashionologie...

It is clever marketing, especially with that Japanese youth-inspired thing.
The odd thing is that it was the title CARROT JEANS that made want to check this thread:lol: Funny cute name for pants!

I am looking forward to this trend because it's the look I always go way out of my way to avoid and occurs naturally if I wear straight legged pants.

In other words maybe I can finally wear some straight legged pants and look cool... ha
