Catwalk Trends F/W 08.09

yaaay it's that time of year again.. NY fashion week has just started

so any trends you are noticing you can post here

*three-tone colour blocks
*lots of grey (but it's NY so..)
*mustard

Gloves

Early observations:

- zipper fronted booties
- laceup oxfords and boots
- the aforementioned paired with heavy bunched socks!
- bubble skirts/dresses
- return to skinny pant leg/legging
- layering of dresses over leggings/colored tights, sometimes also with socks
- plaid!
- FW 07 color palette continues
- colorblocking still huge
- militaristic coats carry over
- jodphurs
- ski "habits" a la YSL F07
- Lanvin-esque box dresses
- high, belted waist still prominent

It's almost like all the trends of the past 2 years have merged into one huge, messy aesthetic! It's hard to make sense of yet, and still I feel a little bored with it. Of course, NYC is always the least demonstrative of progression per season. We'll see.

^i believe that when the general fashion gets boring......it means something new is on the horizon and i can't wait for it.

and don't forget the next decade is upon maybe designers are waiting for S/S 09 and F/W 09/10 to start shifting!

i've noticed a lot of earth down colors

- Layering of knits
- Croc belts cinced at waist
- Waistcoats/vests
- exaggerated silouhettes of all proportions - podlike on top/skinny bottom, sleek top/balloon pants, the classical 1940's hourglass shape. All evidenced by DVF, Alexander Wang, and Y-3.

- dark, disturbed, elegant.
- moody impressionism
- redolent luxury & decadence, all in the fine detailing (again).
