Celine S/S 2022 Baie des Anges

Nothing new or fresh or fashion-forward, annoying music and effects, but ultimately very good tailoring.
I am reluctant to say it's more interesting and designed than Vacarello's Saint Laurent, which is sad in itself because YSL has the benefit of having the best archives, lots of material to inspire, and I want to love Saint Laurent.
The evening wear at the end, including the black bustier worn a jean, is the most appealing I have seen in long times, a mix of old Azzaro and new Balenciaga.
I agree with the various comments about the boutique experience; the clothes there have the highest quality, dare I say at the level of Chanel or Hermes, higher than YSL, and way above the others (looking at you Dior and Gucci). I always pass the logo-ed stuff but end up buying blazers and jackets everytime.

Well...aren't we supposed to not be supporting "fast fashion" anyway lol?

An interesting perspective from HFT Instagram (hope I'm doing this correctly)

"Finally the clothes, what people will compare to Zara yet Hedi never falters from is a form of anonymous luxury; let people think it’s Zara, but the people who do know, know; and more importantly you know. The Celine pieces will be much greater quality with better craftsmanship; hand sequining, fine materials, robust trims; so what does it matter if it looks like zara? It might even avoid you getting mugged. It’s an old idea of luxury, but it’s not irrelevant."

Give me a break. Poorest excuse of mediocrity I’ve ever read.

^^^ Way to over-intellectualize nothing.

LOL @HTF. Hedi/Celine need to stop offering designs that look just like basic-fashion fodder-- with “luxury” construction. Who cares that the sequins are handsewn when the results look just the same as basic machine-sewn sequins? And a stonewashed, high-waisted pair of mom jeans— no matter the supposed haute “quality/construction/detail” is just that, a trendy pair of mom jeans that these rich girls will throw out when the next trend comes along. Denim has come such a long way since even 2010 that even decent Japanese selvedge denim can be easily had at Uniqlo for an affordable price, along with all the various washes/whiskers that were difficult to accomplish a decade ago are now readily available a any moderately-priced denim brand. Paying offensively huge pricetags for such common designs that plague Celine isn’t being a sophisticated consumer; like Lola pointed out— why pay 550 euros formerly-trendy jeans that are so abundant at Zara when you can better spend it on an actual “luxury” piece…???

It’s not even anymore a question of when Zara will be copying all this— cuz Zara’s already done all this LOL …And Uniqlo, ASOS… Hedi has unfortunately seemed to have reached that point in his career where he’s so far up and so deep in bis rarified world in his ivory tower, he’s lost touch with the rest of the fashion world that’s already caught up or even already ahead of him. He’s not the only one: Armani, Miuccia, Rei… they all seemed to have lost their Midas Touch—or maybe just checked out and coasting on their logos alone.

I still wear Hedi’s Dior Homme denim from the late-2000s. They are cut so thoughtfully from other brands, and the washes/selvedge/shades were just not common at the time— and timeless. Dior Homme denim— and A.P.C., have lasted me to this day (even if they are of a thinner denim than other less expensive brands). These Celine looks shown here will be thrown out by their young customers by next year, just like cheap fast-fashion. The shills need to stop defending mom jeans/Old Navy style hoodies/seniors walking shorts as “luxury” just because of the Celine tag. Hedi was still leading with his SLP that Zara quickly ripped off. Now…? Tragic it’s the other way around.

As much as I hate the word, what "triggers" me the most is that I stopped by the Celine stand in Selfridges over the weekend, and I couldn't believe how BASIC everything looked. I honestly couldn't tell apart from H&M from afar and even up close, particularly these two pieces here and here. The bags were desirable, that's about it.

His job at Celine must be really cozy and chill.

He is not selling individual pieces he is selling a certin style, feeling and lifestyle, which is easy to recreate with low budget. Maybe he had the poorer kids in mind? It doesnt matter if you can not afford my Celine, but you can look like my Celine anytime :D

I assume the clothes are bought by:

-die hard fans of luxury basics (20% of sales)
-die hard Hedi fans (20% of sales)
-die hard Lisa fans (60% of sales)

I would rather go out in a total CdG womenswear runway look and be laughed or spat at than being condemned to this level of banality, while having to praise it for being well sewn. I just know the person wearing this has no imagination left on their body…just like Hedi!
