so what??? chanel is a company, not a charity, of course it attempts to make profit as much as they can, just like all the other company in this world!! who give you the right to judge them??
and let me reminds you that chanel is a luxury brand，the price is always high. if you think they ask too much, you can find gap in market, no one force you to buy chanel. and some one in the world is able and willing to pay that much for chanel.

Overall, I like the collection, but is anyone going to mention those white legging-boots? They're pretty hideous imo.

Why can't he do this sort of thing for his RTW? This is absolutely gorgeous. It's everything the Chanel woman is about and it just oozes with richness and a real unobtainable glamour. And like most of his pre-falls, the clothes are rich with detail and little additions, despite the fact that the setting is already so lavish.

This is why I will never like Chanel. Those corny props and settings are the only things holding those collections up. The eskimo collection and the aqua collection are the amongst the silliest ideas in the history of Chanel. They're very ugly and tasteless clothes dressed up with childish set-ups, and of course Karl's fanboys will eat it all up no questions asked. But this isn't childish at all, the clothes here would be just as magnificent and luxurious outside the lavish setting.

The jewellery and embellishments are always my major reason for loving Karl's mid-seasonal collections and I'm really glad to see this one hasn't let me down. It's all absolutely delicious

i completely agree but there's something in this particular show that has a modern edge that some of his métiers d’art shows have not. the paris-moscou and paris-byzance contained some truly masterful pieces that conjured the sort of opulence rarely seen on the streets. this collection did the same while having streetwise details -- cross-body bags, nose-rings, finger-less gloves, zip-front sweats, epaulets on shirts and jackets -- that grounded it firmly in the contemporary.

yes, but witness when karl does present a collection devoid of those headline-grabbing gimmicks and watch as the blogosphere amongst others decries it as boring and irrelevant. women literally cried in the front row at the spring/summer 2011 couture in reaction to the pure beauty of that collection but one wouldn't know it from the reactions one witnessed here. again, different audiences.

I am mixed about this collection, I give it a definite thumbs up as a collection and it surpasses many of Chanel's recent RTW and HC collections, but I still find it is less impressive than Byzance. Byzance had more layers to it to me - you had one layer (the clothes and styling) that was very good, then another layer (the marrying of the theme with the Chanel aesthetic) that was great, and then another layer (the detailing) that was amazing. I guess that can be applied to Bombay as well but to a lesser degree. This collection comes off to me as Karl and Company coming up with a great idea, and then spending most of their effort on the set and styling with the design of the clothes and the integration of the theme into the Chanel aesthetic being given thought, but perhaps not as much attention and passion was given to the design of the clothes as was given to the design of the set.

This collection is more youthful and the presentation was definitely more polished than Byzance, but the best thing about the Chanel-Bombay collection, and it is a biggie if my prognostication comes true, is that I can see this being a directional collection. Other houses have tackled India in recent years including Balenciaga and Chanel itself, but I can see these clothes cropping up on the red carpet, and in editorials and then editors taking on India / South Asia as a theme and then other designers incorporating India / South Asia in their collections.

P.S.
I really liked the menswear, it kinda reminded me of the Beatles Maharishi phase which I would not have anticipated liking but I did like it here.

I like the collection. But I don't know what's so awe inspiring about the jewelry, it's fairly typical work for Indian jewelry.
