and this id the most simple look i could find (very boring) for men's wear....

in my mind, a real clue that chanel could go towards Men RTW..... :innocent:

Well that could be exciting!!

Those sandals are awful. I think they might be cute if they didnt go all the way up to the models hoo hoo:lol:

oh...

please stay away from menswear... :ninja:

not excited about this collection at all...

Dashphire, arlekindearrabal (hey what a name!!) is right, Cruise is a pre spring summer collection delivered sooner in store (october november).. it was first aimed at rich clients going on cruise in winter (and couldn't find summer outfits in december...so sad!:D )
More and more brands do a cruise and advertised on it...

True, and it's also known as resort or pre-spring. Prized by customers for versatility, usefulness, the vacation fun factor, and the fact that a million people haven't seen it on the runway. I often get a "huh" reaction from stores when I mention these terms--they just think of it as the first shipment of spring most of the time. Those in the know in retail value resort for its relatively long shelf life. I like its early availability because spring comes early in my climate--before many of the spring clothes. I've been wearing them for 3 months now, and yet some stores haven't even got their final spring shipment yet.

These hideous gladiators remind me of the LV ones from this same time last year--how sad is that?

Veeery strange indeed...
it looks like 60's mod, ancient greek, aging socialite, and christina agiuelra's hair all rolled into one.... and im going to say one thing about those shoes.. no two - i hope no-one wears them AND if they make models calves look that big imagine what it would do to the rest of us... we all remember britney's disaster outfit a few years ago with similar shoes...

i liked a few outfits, all of them had a certain ease about them, all of them dresses, even the ones worn with striped cardigans...but then i noticed the plethora of double c's in the print:lol:..
chanel always looks much better up close, but the video said it all...those tweed suits..was that graffiti?!
i dunno, karl..looks like a half-hearted collection to me:(

Some pieces look nothing but tacky, but the effect of showing them together makes it a collection just spell CHANEL. By way of contrast, the image of Dior is vague.
Why are those Paris-based fashion houses keen on making shows in NY? Pretty annoying, isnt it? Btw how long does it take before they show haute couture in the Big Apple?

^it's just a thing lagerfeld has with new york now...it's his new toy so to say..he says it's got life and everything he needs

What is Karl on lately? His RTW efforts these last few seasons have been absolutely horrid.

I think Gucci was the first showing Cruise to NY last year.. and then Dior and CHanel..
I guess american customers are very keeen on resort collections, since it was 1st invented for them..

For Haute Couture, seriously, I hope it will stay in Paris!!!!!!!!
Anyway they do "encore showing", like in Hong Kong for Chanel this year and I know it is something they will develop more and more... but please the real show has to stay in Paris...

I know, Chanel is not what it is when it is outside Paris. The same is true with Dior and probably all Paris-based houses.

yes, but look, Prefall (Paris NY) in New York was gorgeous! and some pieces just rocked! :mohawk:

But for sure this is different since prefall was very hig luxury with high craftmanship.. whereas cruise is just more commercial...

I really liked this collection. Some of the looks were awful (ie the first one), but the majority of the clothes were beautiful. I especially liked the white corset-like top on Lily and the tweed jackets. But my favorite part of the collection is the print used on a few of the dresses and on trim of others; it's both feminine and abstract. I'm not quite sure about the sandals, they look good on the runway, but in real life it would look kind of silly. The cork and patent leather wedges are nice, though.
On the menswear side of things, I love the bright colors (very retro) but does Karl wear Chanel? Because it seems in all of the men's clothes, it has those ruffle-y shirts he's famous for wearing.
And where could I find pictures of prefall?

yeah, the dresses looks lovely. But some of the clothes don't feel like Chanel...

ilaughead, U should look on chanel.com in Fashion and then you can find paris new york show..

anyway I believe there was a thread on it, you can find some pictures

yeah, especially the green dress... gorgeous but very far from Chanel signature..

i dont like the Paris-NY collection. Delicate but too sophisticated, not my cup of tea. Dont you miss last year's cruise show in Paris? i love EVERYTHING from that collection, legendary.
