Well, I was thinking about the above Dior looks, and I wouldn't really call them childlike. Surely, they're frivolous and 'fun', but to me they chanell more 'cheap' then 'child'.

I think childlike style is reflected in the shapes and proportions more than anything else. Anastase's high waists and (sometimes) impactical shapes remind me more of a little girl.

A short skirt done right may look like it suits a child, a short skirt with ruffles looks like a short skirt with ruffles, as soon as the styling is broken up.

^ those Dior accessories ARE cute , welcome to tFS mimmy :flower:

scott said he'd post this but clock's ticking.. :innocent:

^_^ sure does count, love the jensen dot looks,
thanks for taking the time mulletproof :flower:

Thanks Lena!

I was thinking that children always tend to look very mismatched, clothes hanging in the wrong way, weird accessories they made themselves, untied shoes, sloppy hair etc etc...this reminds me a lot of Mary-Kate Olsen... She looks like a child who dressed itself in the morning... Couldn't the sloppy part of child-like style be connected to the whole mismatch thing? Like, be a part of the bobo trend? Although maybe the objectives are different... child-like is dressing - well - child-like, while Mary-Kate's BoBo thing is about dressing poorly while being rich and wearing chanel sunglasses and balenciaga bags to prove it. I dunno....ranting...:p:D

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure about the "Lolita look" as it refers to a sexualisation of childishness. Pedophilia is pretty much acceptable in Japan, like the notorious "Alice Club". Nabokov's book is brilliant, and we are all sexualised at a younger age and all that, but the issue of child sex still bothers me a little even though I'm fairly open-minded about sexuality in general.

Naive childishness is different though, more about nostalgia, innocence, memories, craft, self-made/handmade treasures, a bit "souvenir d'enfance", less contrived to look sexy. Hmm, I wonder if I make any sense?

Ha..and this coming from a person with the avatar and name of a precocious 12-yr-old brat.. :innocent:

Cannot agree with you more!:woot:

I think this relates indefinitely more to fantasy in the form of phantasmagoria....it's not objective at all.
