vogue.comDianna Agron, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and More Celebrate the Launch of the E-Zine Sbjct Journal
“Everybody here is familiar with Dianna [Agron], and very familiar with Miu Miu and Vogue, but is probably wondering: What is Sbjct Journal, and why doesn’t it have any vowels?” joked Erin Walsh, cofounder of Sbjct—an online zine which hosted its unofficial launch party at the design-friendly eatery De Maria. Guests unfamiliar with the fledgling site soon learned all about the e-glossy, which is dedicated to extraordinary individuals and the subjects that inspire them. Another Sbjct cofounder (and Vogue veteran), Phoebe de Croisset, stepped in to add, “We hope to effect change wherever change is due.”
This month’s Sbjct spotlight and last night’s guest of honor was Dianna Agron (who can soon be seen on the big screen in Maggie Betts’s Novitiate). Her candid, Q&A–style interview for Sbjct touched on marriage, religion, and self-love, and was accompanied by a fashion editorial that read like a love letter to Miu Miu. “I’ve loved the brand for so many years, it’s great to just walk in and know everything is going to fit me, and the clothes are always so fun,” said Agron, who dazzled in a bejeweled Miu Miu frock. Also in the brand were Phoebe Collings-James and an expecting Kate Foley, who donned a workman’s jumpsuit in lieu of maternitywear.
The highly Instagrammable tablescapes featured simple dahlia floral arrangements illuminated by flickering tea candles, the perfect setting for a family-style dinner of artfully plated smoked salmon ceviche and seared halibut. The crowd was equally photogenic, an ultra-cool mix hailing from various creative industries: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Seth Meyers, Chloë Sevigny, Hailey Gates, and more. The collection of luminaries on the guest list served to remind the crowd that Walsh and De Croisset’s connections run deep, and their community is certainly one worth sharing with the world.
papermag.comChloë Sevigny Smolders as the New Face of Proenza Schouler
Proenza Schouler revealed the launch of PSWL, or Proenza Schouler White Label - the extension of its ready-to-wear collection with a focus on denim, t-shirts, sweatshirts and casual outwear. The brand says the collection is composed of "everyday wardrobe staples and riffs on a set of references explored in past Proenza Schouler collections: from early Powell Peralta videos to the graphic work of Guy de Cointet, from Harmony Korine's Kids to the work of friends like Dan Colen."
It makes sense, then, that the brand's friend and the queen of the high-low dichotomy, Chloë Sevigny, would be the face of the new line. Posing in front of Grey Gardens posters, Japanese screens and city streets, the actress models the collection which will appear in stores and online November 6 with prices ranging from $195 to $1,195.
Designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez said in a statement that their goal was to "fully develop a well-rounded and balanced collection that mixes the high-end with the everyday." They added that a more casual lifestyle "has always been true to who we are as individuals, and true of many women in our lives," and that the PSWL line addresses "both ends of the spectrum in a way that feels totally authentic to us and relevant to the way people dress today."
