Christian Dior S/S 2007 Paris

i agree that the hair is distracting. however, the clothes are amazing. the materials, beading, and embroidery are all pretty impressive. I quite like the shoes and bags too, they are really interesting...a real departure for dior (honestly the bags and shoes look like balenciaga, an evolution from the chunky boots & frame bags last this winter)

i'm really impressedB) !!

I loved the show! It seemed like an updated Christian Dior as if Galliano was paying more attention to the archives. This is probably where the man himself would have been if he were still alive. It felt vintage and classic, yet modern and new. I like the hair and the music wasn't that bad.

Its amazing how startling it is when Galliano does simplicity. This does remind me of the Cruise collection but I like this even more. I am certain this was quite the crowd pleaser. The Back to Basics theme, the search for a simple modern elegance, is one I think alot of people are revisiting right now in and out of fashion.

Beautiful clothing, very simple and tasteful. Perfect for the customer, very easy to sell. I love the draping: everything looks so pulled together. I think one of those dresses is already on my must have list.

the video is now up on dior.com.
i am really not fond of the idea of xtina's music for this collection, it almost kills it. i would've preferred strings or something.

definitely pleasantly surprised by a lot of this... i'd gotten used to dior being so over-the-top that i couldn't even imagine wearing any of it..

this is a nice shift of gears for the brand

Love it! The first few outfits were rather boring but it just kept getting better and better! :woot: Love the dresses and I like the shoes too.

I'm stumped, for me this is the most likable Dior collection in recent history. what little of it I've seen in the first few pages anyway. Loving the bedraped dresses!

i can't seem to take my focus away from the terrible hair:p

Yeah, that's hard to do, and the monk hair (or Jeanne D'Arc) is there for a reason. This is "frigid chic"

Really, with the HQs it's clear that there are some gorgeous powerful Dior pieces, but a few of them are just rather extraordinarily conservative, and doesn't seem to possess much of the bold elegance Dior stands for. Especially this one, and the ones that follow this cut. It does not follow the figure, and where the chest could be embellished we can now gawk at a neat little doily that would have made my grandmother very enthusiastic. (hqcb, from this thread) I mean....not that I want some sort of slutsrus millenium feast here, but some more expressive elegance would have been nice.

^i agree.

and everyone seems to love this collection, but i really don't:unsure:

Quite mystifying the amount of plaudits this collection is garnering. It's dumb-downed commercial shite. Bring back the old Galliano for Dior please.

Well, after seeing the whole thing I hate to say it, but I'm somewhat let down by this. Not because it lacks any of the flair that is synonymous with Galliano, but because I just wasn't "wowed" by any of the clothes.

Oh sure, some of the custruction of the jackets toward the beginning was a great example of how to translate couture into rtw, and I enjoyed the chainlink trim on some of those suits, but a lot of it was kind of unremarkable. The only things that really caught my eye were the two black dresses about midway with the galaxy embroidery from the couture, but they were just an industrialized version of an already beautiful dress.

I was in Dior on 57th the other day, and for all of the Axel Rose jokes that ran rampant back in March, the clothes themselves were wonderfully wearable....and interesting too. It's sad that even those bias-cut numbers towards the end don't even do anything for me, and that's Galliano's mainstay.

Overall, I'd take the resort collection over this anyday.

I did like the bags and shoes though.

For Dior...I'm very impressed. I like the draping and beadworking of all of the dresses. I hope Galliano continues on this path.

beautiful.I'm suprised cos I expected crazy,non-wearable outfits
