I guess the only good thing about collection is that Dior is now your one stop shopping time saver. You can buy the whole entire collection in one store and the rest of the world would probably think you went to several stores and bought some Versace shoes, a few Jason Wu, Valentino, Miu miu etc.

Its hard to criticize Dior but it's lacking an appeal. There how ever were great pieces but over all it seemed very retro and archivish

I've been mulling over it, watched the videos and I think I don't hate it. Some piece are quite nice. Very neat and clean - it's a different Dior. But the cut of some of the dresses are so unflattering they wouldn't look good on any figure even the models. I wouldn't be surprised if old Bernard is happy with this. It will probably sell.

Eventhough this collection was nor risk taking I must say I enjoyed it. I really like this nude dress with details on the bottom. Overall dresses were very light and cute like this light blue one. And the black one that magdalena frackowiak had on was spectacular.also that one that miranda had on...mm delicious.

I don´t get why people miss Galliano that much... his shows were ridiculuos, most of the clothes were horrible.
But the ones that were nice where brilliant.

This collection is nice, it will sell well which at the end is what it matters.

The thing is....Galliano always took the Dior Girl somewhere.

Like Fall 2009's trip to the middle east, Spring 2011's voyage to South Pacific, Fall 2008's trip to the 60's or Spring 2007's Modern day Joan of ark......

thats what Gayten has missed. She hasnt gone anywhere. Shes just rummaged through Galliano's previous work, and made a few samples for herself in boring fabrics.

There`s no inspiration to this. He just drew and drew, made and made, cut and cut in order to have a collection. This was his HIT or MISS collection and obviously it was a miss. The silhouettes were very Galliano but it`s not just the same. Some of the pieces don`t actually go with the collection. This is an ultimate downgrade to the Dior which Galliano made.

If the Marc Jacobs rumor is true, I hope he saves the brand and put Bill`s collection to shame.

It seems like most people commenting this collection have been born after 1990 and have no idea what Dior used to look like. This collection clearly shows that Dior is going back to its roots and I kinda like it. Not my type of clothes and I much preffer the crazy style of Galliano, but he pushed too far and went too far from the Dior concept. I see some feminine classy looks, nice fabrics...the clothes are just more wearable and women who really buy clothes will be happy. I am also glad to see some good models in the show, though not my most favorite ones.

The post-1990s might be 1 issue, but it's also important to keep in mind the huge internet-boom (the late 90s/eary 00s) shifting into the main stream consciousness. All of a sudden, everyone had access to Dior (through it's imagery) via online and John Galliano for Dior happened to have been that initial image and introduced couture to such an incredibly wide audience.

In a way, it goes beyond post-1990s born kids because it includes people who would not have been interested or even known about what was "fashion" or "couture". If you had access to the internet during the boom (from late 90s/early 00s to today), you had access to digest Dior Couture imagery (which was created and molded by John). Had the internet boom happened earlier, Gianfranco Ferre would've had more of an impact on peoples' idea of what Dior was/is.

John literally was at the right place at the right time, and it can be safe to say that John molded the Dior identity into an active, eccentric identity that people were allured by.


That being said, the more I watch this collection- the more I see the "original" Dior. Mixed feelings, very beautiful clothing but nothing particularly memorable.

^Couldn't have said it better myself. I was born in the 90's and my first experience of couture was the Dior Haute Couture S/S 2004 show which I was on television and then I searched online and found out all of his magical creations and fell in love with fashion. That's why people have associated Dior's image with John's collections because they have a very emotional relationship to them and are saddened by how this house looks now. I know how Dior's collections looked under Bohan and Ferre but I didn't experience them as they happened. Also the fact that those collections were very classic Dior didn't help either for people to get interested in them as well as the fact that most people didn't have on the internet until the late 90's. So people do know how Dior looked like before Galliano, it's just that they don't want the house to return to that image again.
