Christian Lacroix S/S 1994.95 Paris

Love him but performing arts was his right field all along. I was wondering whether this wasn't as dated then as it looks to me now since I have no personal context on this time in fashion, but you look at the other collections shown in October 1993, with designers that more or less gravitate towards more artisanal work and multicultural influences (e.g. Dries), and you kind of understand why this was never profitable. Dries and Christian are only 7 years apart and of course, totally different careers and types of opportunities but Christian was delivering the type of work of someone approaching the end of his career, like Yves, except he was 42!. When collections are really good, there's always at least a portion that survives the test of time and there really isn't anything here.

He did shine in HC in the early 00s.. as financially irresponsible as that may have been, he left a great legacy in theatricality, romanticism and richness that still hasn't been met by anybody else.

eta* @Maayan speaking of Dries, I forgot to ask!: would you happen to have Dries Fall 1994? 🥲 (no rush!)

When you see Lacroix RTW, particularly his work in the 90’s, you totally understand that the Couture client wasn’t a buyer of this.
They couldn’t be more different!

Yes but somehow that makes LaCroix even more rife for a revival. His penchant for the stage has so much potential. But probably not in this current *ahem* climate.

I still think someone like Theyskens could do wonders.
