Christopher Kane S/S 08 London

Hmm... well I do like this one piece, shoes, dress and all. I don't really see much else in the collection though.

His debut collection amazed me to no end, so it will always be hard for him to compare to that. However, I think this is a really strong collection, albeit hideously styled at times. The camo/snake shirt has to go, but I really dig everything else.

Then again, I am a sucker for snake prints and tattered denim...

At least this is better than his previous collection...

Embarrassing!!!

old, dull, boho, heavy, wintery, tacky.... all no-nos IMO for a succesfull sumer collection right now... its isn't forward at all.. and if I see a real women on those I would secretly laugh. Not even skinny models saved this frilly crap.

Its clear for me the stolen act was a lie, of course he knew this was very bad.... urgh! however if true, the thieves would have made us a favor.

I find ruffles to be universally unflattering, so this collection is a nightmare for me. I do enjoy the blue boots, however; they're a refreshing change from the typical blacks and greys.

Dreadful, simply dreadful. Most of the pieces look like bawdy bed skirts and the fabric colors only make matters worse. It doesn't get better even when I squint.

Beautiful. Creative?

I wonder what was his signature at St. Martins?...

This is more in line with what he did for his BA degree, soft and drapey.

What I like about this is that he's touching on the same sensibilities that lanched him into the public eye. He's following his voice rather than last season's contrived mess.

I also love the snakesin print and how he uses it with the ruffles.

That said this isn't particularly strong, he's back at square one. He'll have to show where he can tak this for next season, he's got some growing to do in very little time.

Ergh.. It's like an assault with ruffles...don't get me started on the ripped jeans:sick:...There was nothing to make such a big publicity stunt over these kinda clothes. Granted, I was never a fan of his works..I don't mind his non ruffled-pieces though, esp this look

let's see what mower has to say...

LONDON, September 17, 2007 – If Christopher Kane and his big sister Tammy hadn't had a bad babysitter in the eighties, their Spring collection might have looked very different. "It was the pair of us sitting on the sofa watching late-night horror films like Carrie," said Kane. "And Crocodile Dundee." The two movies set him off thinking about chiffon and eerie suspended ruffles on the one hand, washed-out denim and snakeskin vests on the other. Then he bought a camouflage T-shirt on Dalston market. And because it was summer, Tammy was working in a giant £5 T-shirt dress from Primark. And so it went.

All these domestic details are material to the development of one of the most-watched young designers in the world. The Kane siblings work so closely their thought processes are virtually indivisible, to the point that the models in the show with their long, straight hair are dopplegängers for Tammy. Together, the duo can reinforce an odd combination of ideas until they walk the line between trashy and internationally elegant. One slip, though, and it'd be over.

This time, the snakeskin prints, western shirts, and stonewashed denims flirted with what Christopher calls the "dodge" side, but it was the loosened, floaty nature of the silhouettes that caused more surprise. Instead of thigh-grazing, body-gripping shapes, there were flyaway chiffon ruffles, some in Christopher's camouflage print, as well as slouchy T-shirting pieces developed from Tammy's work dress. After many reiterations that included a beautiful long white dress with ruffles banded in snake, their casual-western-romantic message had fully registered. As the VIP audience left the building, the noise of discussion was deafening: Is this collection a watershed in the mood of fashion? Will Kane confuse customers by moving on so quickly, or is he smart to outpace his copyists? Will the chiffon mills of Italy go into overdrive overnight? Quite possibly, the answer to all these questions is yes.

That outfit in post #4 looks like a outfit from Dolce&Gabbana's fall 04/05 collection.

I don't see how everyone is getting boho from this.

I never thought I'd like python, it usually reminds me of 80's hair metal, but he's made it fresh. It's very soft and chic. I love it. Expect to see Kirsten Dunst in some of this.

This really puts most of the NY shows to shame. Ahem, Marc.

my reaction was extreme, hate some pieces disappointedly but found some inspiring.

however, he's still the super star in London fashionweek.

I'll admit it: I actually find this collection kind of interesting , though there were too many ruffles for my taste.

i like this, the ruffles are gorgeous and chiffon seems to be a definite trend across the board.

i find it funny that everyone's slagging it off to high heaven when you'll all be wearing ripped jeans next summer..... :innocent:

Hehe, I actually like them :ninja: I won't be wearing them though, but I wouldn't mind seeing someone trying to pull them off.
But I don't think they fit that much into this collection, there are kind standing there on there own.

I do like select parts of this collection, but it's weird, because it doesn't feel like Christopher Kane. And holy moly, what is with the frills!

So many ruffles! but I liked some shirt and black dress though :woot:

several outfits look like balenciaga to me:ninja:
