Christopher Kane S/S 10 London

I think he is re-inventing the around-2000-era. Congratulations
Love the soft colours.

For those thinking it's not Christopher at all, I think it's a collection designed by Christopher Kane for Christopher Kane, so I suppose it's totally him. He is just experiencing his own evolution and revolution. :flower:

I actually find this collection quite appealing, something about the soft colors and country plaid with the lace-like appliqué that's working in my eyes. and I also see a sequence to his past work, not just an abrupt need to make an impression.. his work seems to be gaining some confidence.

My only issue with this is the same as always and what prevents me from fully appreciating what he does.. his inability to produce a full collection with pieces that a woman might want to integrate to her wardrobe with the intention of keeping and using for more than a year, he's still primarily a dress-maker, literally, very much like Rodarte, he makes trendy, 'catchy' pieces that capture a season (or the seasonal hearts of Bazaar editors, who knows), but once the season or hype is over and all the sweetness his dresses evoked is gone with it, I find it hard to think what makes him remotely outstanding at.
Shortly, his collections are just incomplete for me, they're like a prolonged finale of a Gucci show.. dresses, dresses and more dresses, it never ends.

I like bits and pieces of it, looks here and there, but as a collection I don't really like it.

Well he is a leader not a follower, one of the few designers who actually started that 80s inspired body con punk wh*re dressing back in 2006 and decided to move on . He made the right step. If he was doing the same things , he would be awash in the sea of designers who have produced the same redundant looks . I am a bit underwhelmed by this collection but I see where he was going with it. The shapes are very beautiful and sexy , im not a fan of the prints though. For fall I would love to see the shapes put in more edgy fabrics and colors

This is SO early 2000's Donatella, just upholstered in a new print.

That said, I see what he's trying to do with the usage of gingham. Does it always work for me? No. Are there some outstanding moments? Yes.

This is so sweetheat. I like that designers are going softer for spring but that's normal I guess. Just tired of all the metal, chains, studs. Some of the looks evoke early Prada with the side slits skirts and sweater combo. Gingham is sweet and so Dorothy Gale.

Thanks for this statement. After reading this and have a second look I can say I really like it and there are few pieces that I would wear. And it's a nice SPRING/SUMMER collection. Last week too many NY collections were more fitting for AUTUMN/WINTER.

I love Christopher Kane but this is really....um....a different approach then he has taken in the past.
some pieces are still covetable though.

Caught me by surprise that's for sure. He usually does much more detailed clothes. But the overall collection isnt terrible, just...... lost its potential I guess.
I see the Versace reference in there.

Speaking of which Donatella was actually there.

^ You're no fool, some of us are still stuck in that era too

true, it's also mixed with late 90s prada and miu miu, don't really mind the collection. it's growing on me, maybe i'm just an old fool loving the 90s

Yep, yep, prada & miu miu too
I kinda felt the mood of that era in Marc Jacobs as well...even that Marc reminded me of JG at Dior 2000-2002
:innocent:

I still do not for the life of me get why Jenny is in there, wearing a full on men's suit that appears to go with nothing else!

The only other things even close to being like it are the odd waistcoat and other jacket.
