I propose, if we don't have a thread like this, we start one that showcases stars young and older that you'd want kids, teens etc to really look up to - I'm talking about girls and guys who don't get sucked into the hollyweird life and look like a classy, normal individual.

I just saw Hillary Duff singing on TV tonight (some new Ryan Seecrest sow) and my sister and I both remarked how normal and healthy she looks especially compared to most of the skeletal starlets out there.

i've read that she's taking online classes through Harvard. If so good for her for continuing her education whilst working like a maniac doing music and movies.

I think Sophie Bennett and Emily Browning, are healthy and beautiful young girls. both about sixteen I think, really decent actors, and really gorgeous young budding fashion sense.

As a teen Claire Danes was a major role model for me. She still is one of my favorite actresses. She beautiful but not in a conventional "barbie doll" way. Her choice of roles is never what one exprects from a young starlet. She seems to disregard the size of the part, the size of the budget etc. and really go for interesting characters. And she's not afraid to occasionally veer off into a different direction and try something new. I also really admire the fact that when Romeo+Juliet came out she had hollywood at her feet, a lot of actresses would have forgotten about college at that point, but she decided to make education a priority. Also, she's very clasy- you don't see her out partying, getting drunk and high, etc. But she's in her mid 20's now, so for someone who actually is a teen I'd say...
Emmy Rossum. She has an amazing voice and she disciplined herself at a very early age when she joined the metropolitan opera. She really made the transition from singer to actress seemlessly because opera is acting- you're playing a part but singing it. She's able to convey emotion whether it is spoken or sung. I'm really interested to see what she'll do next. She's so poised and mature it's hard to believe she's the same age as Lindsey Lohan, the olsen twins, etc. She also takes classes at Columbia University when she's not working.

I agree on Hilary Duff. She has always looked like a normal, healthy teenager. Plus, she seems very intelligent and mature.

I also think Mandy Moore is very classy. She always seems so mature and down-to-earth. I love her! :flower:

i also agree about hilary she always looks and acts like a normal 17 year old should unlike lindsay

Oh I love Mandy Moore too. She seems very grounded. She looks and acts her age. No running around in trashy outfits or getting drunk in nighclubs. She seems very low-key and that I like.

Agreed, Hilary Duff always looks so fresh faced and her figure looks healthy. She's always very smiley too!

I would have to say of Hilary Duff...that recently she's been looking a little on the thin side. I think the fact that she has a large torso and short neck has always given her the illusion of being bigger than she actually was, but she's definately slimmed down quite a bit recently.

someone's size does not necessarily reveal anything about their health...why is there a thread like "healthy" stars...health comes in many shapes including in slender shapes which many of you are implying is in fact unhealthy

I wasn't saying that at all. My obsevation on Hilary Duff is that she seems to have lost quite a bit of weight fairly quickly.

I mean, a lot of people give Lindsey Lohan flack for being so thin...but to me she doesn't look any thinner than I am...and I'm absolutely not unhealthy.

I was just going to post this. Just because someone is skinny, does not mean that they are unhealthy.

I dont think that the word 'healthy' in this case is supposed to be taken literal.
I think she just meant not overly skinny looking.:flower:

I interpreted health to mean overall health, both mental and physical. My 2 choices are skinny but not emaciated or gaunt. They look like they have a natural body shape. I also interpred it as emotional/mental health: not drugging, drinking, sleeping around, have a sense of self-esteem, and being comfortable with who you are.

no one said being skinny was unhealthy....what IS unhealthy is the pressure for all these young girls to be extremely thin, and too think that ONLY being thin is healthy is wrong too

i understand your point and it makes alot of sense now...but still "emaciated" and "gaunt" are subjective terms which leads to unneccesary put-downs of thinner women who may in fact be healthy even if, in one's own understandings of what is a good weight size, they are considered "emaciated"...and once again, a "natural body shape" for someone may be bony...i certainly am and im healthy and eat well...it may be difficult for people to understand that but its true...

I totally unsterstand that they are subjective terms. If you are naturally bony but healthy I would never use either to describe you. For some people thin is natural and healthy. In my post I was referring to celebs who do not have a natural body shape (celebs who may be more curvy naturally) but try to force thinness via all kinds of methods. I'm sorry if I offeneded you.
I also think that the thread has gotten a bit off topic with this discussion of weight. I know we were talking about stars who appear to live a healthy lifestyle, and food is just 1 part of that.

I agree :) she's one of the few stars that seem to have be healthy

Claire Danes also used to be my favorite, she's not that young anymore but I still like her. She's so natural and sweet.
