College Style

I never said I hate heels, I just expressed my opinion regarding their daily use in high school.. If you took offense to my opinion it's because you allowed it to.

i don't think anyone said you hated heels. and you're right, i did allow myself to take offense to that...your point? i allow myself to take offense to anything that i'm offended by. no one can MAKE me offended. i just don't get the point in saying that.
i was offended by your opinion because direct logic follows that someone (such as myself) is "stupid" for choosing to wear high heels daily in school. i don't see anything stupid about it. i can concentrate just fine in class and probably have better grades than many people who aren't wearing high heels (although my school doesn't calculate GPAs unless they're requested for grad school application transcripts, so i don't know for certain). my feet don't hurt, either. everything is just fine, and i'm happy with my footwear choice and always have been. for me this isn't "dressing up" or a matter of "outdoing" someone, it's standard attire. my doctor never detected any problems with my feet. fail to see the stupidity, then, in choosing to wear high heels, and i imagine the issue is the same for many if not most who choose to wear them. i'm sure there are many girls who in high school/college feel the need to impress others by wearing flashy heels, but the same could be said about flashy flats or expensive sneakers.

I don't recall indicating people lack intellectual ability academically due to their footwear.. I said as a healthy decision it's questionable to be shifting your spinal alignment from such a young age. If that's your choice fine, there was no need to explode and become somewhat aggressive. Relax, it's just a forum and they are JUST shoes afterall.

well...you did use the word "stupid". hence my quotation marks.
not sure where you see the aggression, either. i was just stating my side.

i guess i still just don't understand how "learning" and "wearing high heels" are diametrically opposed.
if i feel most comfortable, most myself, most put together in high heels, then why not wear them to class? they aren't thigh-high boots covered in sequins with peacock plumage spurting out from the toe, so surely they aren't distracting anyone. heck, i think someone's chipped, lime green pedicure and dirty-footbedded flip-flops are more distracting than a sophisticated shoe with a four-inch heel, not to mention potentially unsanitary. should i look down on those who sport such footwear to class? i just don't get it, and i think this must be so for many who regularly wear high heels to class.

Don't worry about it so much. ^_^ You do what you do, but I despise many that use school as a social spot than for its purpose: to learn. But it doesn't mean you can't do both!

Just because you take pride in how you look doesn't mean that you're using school as a social spot.

this discussion got way out of hand.. can we focus on something else?

I have people who wear trackpants and thongs on a daily basis to class, they roll out of bed and show up with unbrushed hair..

Never said that. Please don't twist my words in a post. :flower:

ewww i see those girls all the time, especially during early classes. it kind of grosses me out since i know that they were probably up partying the night before and didn't even bother showering

San Francisco State University has some chica people.

here and there of course. Ladies in heels everywhere. Loves it.

Heels at college is simply a fashion statement and or fashion choice. I feel heels at high school or middle school is purely unpractical. It had no effect on intelligence. Someone could dress as a goth and be a genius. Someone could dress as a lawyer and be a genius.

Don't get me started on the thong/sweatpants/dirty chicks at college. I quote from family guy, "You know how you can kind of taste something when you smell it? When I'm smelling you and you taste like sweat and salt." I feel that way about some of the chicks that live down the hall.

 OMG I laughed so hard when I read that FG quote!

Great work McGovLau

(By the way that's simply what i was getting at in regards to heels in middle/high school - you said it a lot clearer than I did.)

LOL Oh dear god studying Russian is ruining my grammar.

I'm kind of embarrassed hahahaha. *has *well

You guys get the point ha

I go to an extremely preppy, conservative school on the East coast... I stick out like a sore thumb, especially on weekends. I favor sky-high heels and rocker-type ensembles whereas most girls at my school stick to the "uniform" of boot-cut jeans, long jersey tunics and flats or plain black pumps. They're not trashy-looking or anything and people generally look put together, but it does get a little boring after a while.

During the week most people are dressed pretty casually... I usually wear flat boots to class because my campus has a LOT of stairs and even I get tired of climbing flight after flight in massive heels. But I do wear heels if my boyfriend offers me a ride to class, haha.

I really need to take pics of hippies at my school. I've seen some pretty hilarious outfits

All my school peeps go to Parsons - aka. the college style = the runway style. Kinda sad - but oh-so- amusing.
