What is scene style all about?

this whole hipster look is nothing new. because of the internet an access amount of people now know about it, and designer clothing follows this style. then lesser names in the fashion world produce this hipster look so its available all over.

pffffffft  alot of ppl r confusing scene with hipster. there were the emo kids and then came along the scene kids which are a ton different then hipsters. hipsters like to look to kate moss for inspo, scene (mainly known scene kids) like to look at how brokencyde/millionares"band members"(notice the quotations?:innocent:) dress. they are a crunky vrs of emo. as in they were emo kids but then got sick of being all "dark" so they decided "heyyyyyyy!!, lets break out the beer, get drunk, and make an album that is half EMO(talks about lost love) and half trashy CRUNK shiit(hey girl, you look sexy, wanna f*ck?!!?) " personaly i miss the days when emo was little known (i had a certain soft spot for the emo "trend":heart:lol) and i certainly miss the days when there was no such thing as "scene" if ya wanna know more about "scene" as it really is i highly recmond "stuff you will hate"(blog!) which is a dude whos got a love/hate relationsihp with scene, amazingly jokess OR "your scene sucks" and the dude who runs it, like me, misses the good old emo-little-known days. now i will leave you to ponder while i go away and read some edger allan poe and listen to "the truth about heaven" while crying to myself cuz noooooooooo-one understands me

I would even argue that hipsters, scenesters, and indie are all different. I'd categorize it as:

Indie is your somewhat well to do, usually white kid that listened to Deathcab "before they were popular"; the kid with the tweed jacket, little black framed glasses and laptop pearched up in the Starbucks in Barnes and Noble, the latest issue of Paste (or some magazine you've never heard of) right at his side.

Your hipster is the girl that idolizes Kate Moss, Sienna Miller, and Cassie from Skins; the girl with the dirty scraggly hair who could practically live in Urban Outfitters and/or American Apparel. It's your guy that looks like either Julian Casablancas c. 2002 or Dov Charney/Terry Richardson; skinnies and lots of leather or hipster mustache and too short shorts. I think the overall goal is to look like you have poor hygiene, an unapologetic nostalgia for a time you never actually lived during, and an amazing self depreciating sense of humor.

Scenesters and Hipsters can definitely intersect; indeed, I think lots of people would describe my above description as a subdivision of being scene. Many artists I consider "scene" (LMFAO, 3OH3, Ke$ha) share many of the above traits, gross hair in particular. Crunkcore, which xabscission mentioned in her post, is the current dominant definition of scene now, I think; bright colors, too tight pants, loud sneakers. Most of the girls have hideous, hideous hair and both genders take those abysmal myspace pictures. The guys fuse a lot of their look with popular hip-hop trends in an ironic way; and, ironically, now there are quite a few scene hip hop guys (ah, the circle of life).

Overall, to me, being indie is about being pretend sophisticated; being a hipster is about pretending to be from the 60s/70s/80s; and being scene is about pretending to not be an uppermiddle class kid with too much money to spend at Hot Topic/Journeys.

I can't stand the hair and looking like you came out of a crayola factory.

I think if it were more toned down, I'd like it more.

Also, don't confuse scenesters for hipsters.

exactly! kesha has the hipster look but its all fake, and most def no one calls her hipster so she automaticly falls into scene/all pop culture these days.

take a look at these stupid losers:

utterly trashyness and the definition of skank the millionares seem to be taking the world (read:little teeny boppers thinking they are "unique" by being scene:rolleyes:) god knows why, anyways this isnt them in their "look at me, wh*re galore" as i couldnt get the pic i wanted uploaded. i mean they actually have a "song" called "just got paid, lets get laid" i watched about two seconds of the video and almost felt sick::sick:

and here are someeeee MOREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE:

true (utterly flashy) scene "kids" though they are probably really in their mid twenties but with all that sunglasses you never see their face im actually guessin thirty

personally, the only song i like by brokencyde is jealousy which is ironic because the song im guessing is targeted at "haters" but i like to define brokencyde haters as "people who do not want their IQ dropped by 46.989999% by listening to their mindless rantings of girls, drugs, beer, beer, beer, beer and other stupid bands like them and oh and i almost forgot BEER!!!. LOL i soundd sooooooo mean :innocent: im not that hateful, i do like myself some Dot Dot Curve

and what you mentioned about "scene hip hop" or whatever i think thats what scene IS emo was rock so scene came along and made rap and crunk with just a bunch of (autotuned:rolleyes:) screams . i personally enjoy some hard rock so this crap is utterly offending to rock music, BECAUSE they actually CALL themselves a BAND. not ONE of them play any instruments!!!
