To me, cool is that ineffable x-factor that draws peoples' attention to you. I think it has something to do with a calm kind of comfort in whatever you're doing (or in this case, wearing)

For me, I think I try not to look like I'm trying to be something I'm not when I get dressed, you know? So going by my definition I suppose I am making some sort of attempt to look cool. It's not conscious though.

I think "cool" transcends fashion, it has nothing to do with trends. So in a way I don't think there really is such thing as being cool now. It's eternal. Cool is an attitude, not an ensemble.

^Exactly, to me cool is an attitude, a confidence in yourself. Cool is when you know who you are and embrace it. It's when you're comfortable in your skin and it shows through to everyone around you. Therefore all that you do and all that you are is cool. This confidence appeals to those who lack it and they follow, then trends are born (in music, fashion, food, destinations, etc.)

There's alot of cool members here on tfs, whether it be their style or their personalities in general.
Being cool involves not trying to be cool in my opinion, by trying to be cool, you're losing all meaning to be "cool"
On tfs, I see how many of our members dress, they have their own distinct style, flair, personalities that show through the clothes and poses, or even the way they take their pictures. That being said, anyone cool is comfortable with themselves id on the right track, although there is no "Track" to coolness...

Just be comfortable and confident with yourself and it will show...
the thought of people trying too hard leaves a bad taste in my mouth...
and being cool is not a priority for me, I've got other things to worry about

i agree with a lot of things that have been said already. most of all, i agree that it has to do with confidence. someone who has a quiet, subtle confidence around them is cool to me. someone who doesn't need to be the center of attention to feel good. someone who's comfortable in their own skin. someone who thinks for themselves. an independent person.

i also think of something mysterious. maybe a bit dark.

it's so hard to describe.. but you know it when you see it.

When I first see this word, I think of teeangers' standard for the person who wears american eagle, who is fake therefore they are popular, people who fits in......
so normally I don't use this word to compliment anyone at all

i think it's confidence..and a bit of bravery..well...most people i consider to be cool dress like no one and seem impressively comfortable in their clothes..strawberry and estella come to mind. posting their pics would be a little outrageous for internet standards.

I always thought that cool was originality... But cool is really the confidence for me...confidence with being what you are...no matter how uncool you seem to be to the rest... (confusing...) And cool is also when you flow your own way...when you totally ignore pressure and influence...

Being 'cool' is definitely about one's confidence, attitude, personality, etc, etc... But there's something more to it... I think someone who is cool is somewhat different to most people and more so, they've got that certain, 'je ne sais quoi...' about them that just makes them cool.
