Cover Rumor Thread

Maybe Cate doesn't sell well these days? i remember her last cover was circa 2014 around the time of her second oscar. It's such a contrast because Aussie Vogue sometimes use her twice a year. Sadly i sense legendary stars like Cate, Vogue staples for so long, are being steadily replaced by the new guard - apparently Selena Gomez and Elle Fanning. I predict September going to a younger, infinitely less interesting starlet.

Good riddance if you ask me, we've seen the same actresses on the cover of Vogue for close to 20 years now. It's time for fresh blood.

Carolyn Murphy, Guinevere and Angela Lindvall were shooting for CR with Mario Sorrenti last week.

I hope this is true!! Was a big fan of Wesson. Love the supers, of course, but I'd like to see more of the Audrey Marnay, Bridget Hall, Kirsty Hume clan.

Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Romee Strijd, Fei Fei Sun and Imaan Hammam are shooting separately for VUS in NYC today.

What is VUS? V magazine? US Vogue? Victoria's Secret?

According to this it is for Vogue Taiwan

and Lineisy is part of if as well:

although it seems quite strange to me that Vogue Taiwan can afford so many big names like Candice, Fei Fei in one shooting!

I mean they never use models for their covers as I recall and the cast sounds very Vogue US indeed.. I didn't mean to discredit Vogue Taiwan, sorry if explained myself poorly.

You do know that for editorials, models get paid a very very small fee. I.e., £150 . This then leads to ad jobs where the money is!

^ i think top models shoot for the lowliest Vogues simply because being on/in Vogue is a universal signifier of prestige and success. It may be vogue taiwan, but pretty much everyone bows down to the Vogue masthead.

^ Fei Fei, Candice & probably Romee are shooting with Tabitha Simmons, so it's almost sure for Vogue US but not a cover.

Yeah, this doesnt sound like a Vogue Taiwan cast at all. When they shoot models they prefer the society clan like Suki Waterhouse. Also, why go with such a in-demand cast and only use them for a feature. Pretty sure it's for a bigger Vogue. Theo Wenner though....

Do we think there is any chance Gal Gadot could get a September US Vogue cover? I would personally love it. I know she was just on W, and may not be the biggest name or the youngest social media starlet. I would personally love it, though. A new face, and a natural beauty at that. I also know this is a long shot, if not a "it will never happen", but if she got the Annie Leibovitz and Grace Coddington character narrative treatment, like SJP be did for Sex and the City, Kirsten Dunst for Marie Antoinette, Michelle Williams for My Week With Marilyn, Reese Witherspoon for Walk the Line, and others, I think that would be beautiful. Not that Vogue really promotes superhero/comic book movies, but Annie's images are cinematic, and the movie had high cool and warm tones, like Annie's images. There were some fashion moments within the movie, for sure.

I'm sure it won't happen, but I think it would be something exciting to see.

They do actually plug superhero movies every now and then. Gwyneth got a cover shot by Klein for Iron Man, Sienna for GI Joe, and one of Scarlett's covers must've been for The Avengers. But they got those because they're Anna's pets and the films just provided another reason for her to give them covers. I think Gal Gadot is a huge stretch because she's still so new. Also, I don't think her deal with Gucci is still active.

I think it's maybe time to give a tv star a cover, any month! There's just so many great shows doing the rounds right now, can't believe Vogue wouldn't want to part of the conversation!

Perhaps Gal Gadot would have more chance of appearing on a Vanity Fair cover.

I 130% agree with TV stars! I'm tired of seeing the same movie actresses and pop stars in covers. There's nothing new to know about them. If Vogue wants to be somehow political, they should feature Robin Wright or Kerry Washington (as they portray political figures or related thereto).

^ Robin Wright would be a dream to see on Vogue because of her career, poise and important charity work but I doubt it would happen. The only chance Anna takes on women over 50 is when they are ultra famous - in fact, only Meryl Streep and Michelle Obama have gotten Vogue US covers at the age of 50 or above in the last ten years.

If Bazaar Taiwan could afford icons like Karolina and Coco, then why not?
