Most definitely a celebrity who models. Not trying to dismiss her career, but we all know why she got such an important cover so early in her fashion career. They even interviewed her and (if I remember correctly) interviewed some of her family members for that issue and actual models don't get such treatment. You won't see their name on the cover, because their name is never the focus. And with Kendall, the name is all there really is.

Naomi was on the cover of the Observer magazine last week, in her interview she stated that this year she’d shot her first Vogue cover with a black photographer.

I don’t know if that’s already occurred on an international edition (my knowledge of them outside of the big ones isn’t great!) if not, it could allude to the US edition I assume?

Unlike the US, mainstream success in France doesn’t necessarly translate to overwhelming exposure.
In a way, it has to make sense for the audience and the magazine. Neither Aya or any other big star (of that magnitude) ever had a VP cover...Not even Celine Dion in the 90’s (you couldn’t do bigger than her at that time).

While I’m not a fan of her music, I think it would have been a major move from VP to endorse someone like her. She is a girl from the suburbs and it means something. She is invited in fashion parties, she is friend with Jacquemus...

In France we surely have this « class » thing. I remember when Booba (Biggest French rapper) made the cover GQ. Only Prada agreed to dress him. You could expect that all the brands that at the time enjoyed having rappers in the front rows would love to be associated with him but No!

But I hope that Aya would make the cover of ELLE at least. Because she is really a cultural phenomenon!
