And one more girl, she appeared on one of VI's 100 covers last year. She's cute, but I'm surprised she got it.

One of the Asian models booked a big commercial/mainstream job, and she has ties to a very famous HF model (also Asian) who used to be big in the late 90s/early 2000s. The latter then left the industry and went into acting. Did a few commercial films that were decent.

Not Pooja, both Asian models are of East Asian descent

Adesuwa sounds right. But I don’t know if she’s left wherever she’s been (I think Africa?) since quarantine happened last year

If that's the final lineup, I think the seemingly odd combination is a result of highlighting a diverse set of current or upcoming models all representing America. You've got two Black models, two Asian models, a Hispanic model, a trans model, and then Kaia and Bella have big social media followings and will presumably help sell the issue. I think it's an interesting crew and I'm eager to see the results.


The only thing I don't like about it so far is that this will be Kaia's THIRD American Vogue cover. She's only 19 and her career is arguably winding down, not heating up. I have to believe her June/July cover was a last minute thing after another coverstar fell through....

That's the rumor. Too bad Bella's edit in that issue wasn't at all cover-friendly, otherwise I think she would have gotten it. I actually think Hailey's edit would have worked better as a cover feature than Kaia's, but Hailey had just been on so many covers, including VP and US HB, so I guess that made it an easy decision.
 
The line up is very questionable as why these girls. Half of them I don’t know that well, but that’s okay. I just wish Adut was added to the line up!

I would have liked a good OG-ish girls. Like Karlie, Joan, Imaan added with the mix. Even Grace.

overall I’m happy and I can’t wait to see the cover. Hopefully it isn’t a photoshop fail!

So judging from the line-up, I guess the coverline would be something like “celebrate American models”? Can’t wait to see the final result.

Most of these that you mention are not Americans (as this is their link apparently).

However, Grace instead of Kaia would have been great.
