Cover Rumor Thread

I love POC representations. Always will. If its a "Black" Issue again, executed properly (not collage style), I'm game.

But you know what, I wish magazines widen their concept of diversity. I've been seeing complaints of some here about the lack of POC cover models, but none complain about the close to none ASIAN representation on the covers of Western Vogue.

Yoon Young was on UK Vogue, but on the fold out. And as far as I remember, the consensus here is that fold outs don't matter. Unless we'll bend that again for you know who. Gemma Chan as well.

Liu Wen was on the cover of US Vogue back in 2017.

Fei Fei Sun on a US Vogue cover fold-out and group.

We can agree to disagree about UK and US Vogue's stance on POC, but one thing's clear, none have taken a bold move and put an Asian on the cover by herself

Vogue Italia gave Fei Fei covers, while Turkey as well.

Liu Wen with Vogue Italia.

With the current situation in America, I would LOVE to see a recreation of ''State of Emergency''. Or any of the other big controversial stories such as the rehab one, makeover madness or water & oil. But it's definitely The Black Issue, isn't it?
At this point, Black Issue isn't nearly as controversial or groundbreaking as it was 10 years ago. Of course, I have no doubt that it's going to be absolutely beautiful and exciting, but will the impact be nearly as big as it was back then? Anyway, I'm very excited to see it. Hopefully it's for December and entirely shot by Meisel (if you're recreating that issue, you'd better do it right). Would love to see Adut, Naomi, Joan and Imaan on the cover.

Still, I wish British Vogue would allow Meisel to be as creative as he used to be with Franca. Imagine if he actually did stories reflecting the state of our world today. He'd certainly have lots of materials to work with. From political issues to natural disasters and climate change. Imagine the greatness... ah!

In my part of the UK, Asians (mostly from Hong Kong) are the largest minority, their businesses have been established for decades, several generations have called this place their home, we have Asian politicians in local elections - yet where is the representation of this modern face of Britain?

Edward will do a black issue precisely because it won't represent anything controversial these days, but will still win headlines. I can't see him dipping a toe into anything that would truly cause upset, and cost him precious friends and favours.

I’d love Black Issue as long as there is no Naomi Campbell fetish going on. I am sure she was discriminated as a woman of colour but in modelling terms she did rather well in comparison with the other girls who would walk catwalks, become iconic with a quarter of opportunities given to them but never reach the level they should have. My problem with Naomi is that she keeps talking about the big causes and somehow it ends up being just about her. In fact, wouldn’t it be great if she did what Meghan did with the September issue?

Anyway, would love to see Alek or Debra and shouldn’t Vogue finally honour Tyra (who annoys the sh*t out of me) with a cover? Her portrait was one of the highlights in the famous issue. I am sure there will be few covers with the girls of the moment too.

Agree. And what about the South Asian community? One of the biggest in the country? Since Vogue UK is turning into some sort of Time they might as well explore and celebrate the diversity of this society fully.

^ An all trans/non-conforming issue, could really work, if done properly. Let's not forget that Meisel's first muse (before Christy, or Linda.etc) was a trans woman Teri Toye, and he took some gorgeous portraits of her. She had a huge influence on his early work.

Any rumors on Vogue MX/LAM September and October issues? Those will be their 20th anniversary specials.

Hopefully we see Kerry Washington on a cover for October or November for her Netflix movie “American Son”. I’m hoping it’s either InStyle, but I would love Vogue, an “after Scandal”/American Son storyline.

Also, hope to see Taraji P Henson and Viola Davis slay some covers for their final seasons of their HIT shows.

Is there an Internal Conde Nast memo for WORST September Vogue cover? I mean everyone seems to be participating!

And I LAUGHED when I saw the try hard hashtag for Farneti. If that man ever trends, it would only be for the worst reasons

Are we sure that this is the cover and not just a teaser? Surely there's a silhouette so maybe its a teaser

Also there's no "SETT 2019 (Price) No. xxx" beside the masthead
