CR Fashion Book #17 F/W 2020.21

The Lacoste advertorial, 'Beautiful Stranger' and Teyana's edits are quite good. But I have to say the content is pretty unremarkable, and the page count way too low for a seasonal edition. They normally have at least twice the amount of edits in an issue. Who will pay £17 for this??
guess its a new reality we should get used to... i usually bought most of bi-annuals and non-monthly publications like CR, Re-edition, another, self service, holiday, Love, I-d, 032C, Numero Berlin, Cap74024, Dust, system and so on. I didnt buy previous CR because its seriously lame, same thing with this issue, i skipped all lockdown issues of dust, system, re-edition, now i wont buy CR, another (because its worser than usual), i guess id buy new i-d because its anniversary issue and it seems like they re cooking something special, but i don`t have high hopes on the rest of the list, however pop will out this month. All this facetime-produced content, collages, work with new b-list photographers and stylists just because they are in the same town turn out into a real challenge for magazines and i have to say, they can `t cope with that. Most of these photographers remain at the same level even after working with big titles. And the overall quality of fashion shootings has really gone downhill, all the magazines and ads remind me of zara.com shootings and its a compliment for zara but not for industry (i know that zara often use a-lst models, stylist and photographers and its a great idea for their online marketing). I don't know when or if things stabilize, but now the the picture is quite grim.

Btw, its a shame seeing once again how Carine Roitfeld lost all her stylist talent and i must say that she never know how to work with not really famous photographers and models, result is always pity, she only knows how to work with renown photographers and models. Her rose as EIC of indie magazine is also lackluster, she is trying to drive sales through mass market celebs like Kardashians and Hadids, don't know if it helps her though.

Carine is a beautiful representation of what a stylist of her caliber should never do! When you are that established, you should never lower your standards...And it’s not even a issue of CN vs Hearst because she never worked with the established names of Hearst.
Part of the aura of someone like Carine is her capacity to bring the biggest stars...Even in the early days of CRFB, she managed, despite everything, to bring some news-worthy names...

This just feels unnecessary! If she wants her magazine to showcase new talents, she needs to do better and needs to play with dynamic between more and less established.

Nobody needs to see an unknown photographer with an unknown stylist and an unknown model. It just does not make sense!

Carine still got it but she needs to find a way to make her magazine more relevant. It’s easier today than it was 10 years ago. There are talented photographers who aren’t tied up by contracts and she is still very influential with models and she should only work with established photographers who have a defined and recognizable aesthetic.

The issues with CRFB are:

1- It is too American whereas Carine is extremely french and has always been her strength. She tries to adapt herself to something she is not and it shows. All these editorials have not an ounce of Carine's touch.
2- Her surrounding is terrible. Vladimir is bad at business and bad at advising his mother...
3- I said that so multiple times but she does not have a great team around her at all. I get it NY is where the coins are but go back to Paris. There are some nice new talents who have been heavily influenced by her VP days and could perfectly work under her.
