I really like culottes. I got these from Max Studio and they look so cute w/ stilettos

So are bell shaped sleeves and capes. Clothing is going to be much looser and more layered than previously.

I think its part of a general trend towards more comfortable dressing.

By time fall comes round I thikn that many of you will have changed your minds, trends can look wierd when they're very new.

Fashion is all about timing - being too early can be as bad as being too late.

not that they are the last word on style...but lucky magazine this month has a piece on culottes for fall-

how to wear them for weekends and for work...guess the trend is finally catching on...

hmmm....wonder where the idea came from...

I would wear grey pleated culottes a la Heidi Slimane with knee length suede boots if I could find any...

But women just haven't got the figure to wear them...IMO...

what are you talking about?!?!...what women do you know...?...

you have to rent the movie...'the eyes of laura mars'...with faye dunaway...she wears culottes in the opening scene...she plays a fashion photographer...and that is EXACTLY how i wear them...with high heel round toe lthr boots...and a large cashmere wrap...they look uber-chic...very FRENCH...

Faye Dunaway would look good in a sackcloth though!

I just think that - unless you're uber-stylish (in which case you can ignore all rules and still look good) - a tall, muscular physique with narrow hips (i.e. man or boy) is the best shape for culottes.

in actual fact...a good a-line skirt or pair of culottes is a GREAT way to disguise fuller hips...the flair at the bottom makes hips look narrow...i think most people don't inderstand this and that is why they aren't as popular as they could be... they are asctually QUITE flattering...which is why i wear them...

and of course i'm uber-styish and can ignore all the rules...hahaha...

I love, love, looove culottes. Seeing at the store a few times, I had no idea what they were at first... then I found out. I don't like denim culottes though.

They're so long that they would look like awkward capris on my short body.

you can make them any legnth you want depending on what looks best on your body type...they should be altered according to that...just like any other pr of pants...

my denim ones come just past my knees...
and my wool ones are fuller and come much longer...for a more elegant look...they also look MUCH better with high boots...a little heel helps balance the shape...

the key is to have the hem of the culottes come longer than the top of the boot ...so no skin shows (unless you;re sitting)...that way you get a nice long lean line...if there is a space btw the top of your shoe and the hem of the culottes...then an opaque tight is in order...which is also a big trend for fall...

Hm... they sound fun for fall... a good alternative to wearing pants all the time in the cold weather....

Haven't seen many culottes around tho...

i have 2 pairs. i dont wear them much , but when i do i like them with boots or flats. i think we had a big yay or nay thread about this a while ago..i guess you either love them or hate them

they are a pain for me, im short.....i hate alterations . im lazy.

banana- i think the kind of culottes that are being discussed are also known as 'jupe-culotte' but culotte is a word for undies ...
