I'm not sure if something similar exists but I have done some searching and couldn't find anything so...

There are certain products that we hear about over and over again: Stila Eyeshadow in Kitten. Nars Orgasm blush. YSL Touche Eclat. Maybelline ProV Mascara. I am really interested in hearing more about these cult products and the many others I can't bring to mind just now! Do they live up to their reputation? What are your experiences with them? Which do you want to try?

My first contribution: Stila eyeshadow in Kitten seemed a little frosty in the store, but I decided to trust in the beauty editors whom I have heard reccomend this over and over again, and the customers who have made it a top selling product. Great stuff once it "wears in". Mixes with the natural oils in your skin to create a glow that looks natural and pretty.

What about Fracas? Its a perfume that has reached cult status and has stood the test of timt- its been around for decades!

black satin chanel nail polish!

i've yet to try it but i love black nail polish and this is la creme de la creme.

I think the nars blush is so popular becuase that shade looks good on just about everyone. I used it and I did like it quite a bit although I'm using a different shade now. The really dont like the YSL Touche eclat, go with diors version instead, I think it's called dior lights or something like that. Touche eclat begins to smell horrible about about a month. Maybelline ProV mascara is really good for the cheaper brands like revlon and l'oreal, but there are lots of more expenisve mascaras that are better. It's great for the price though.

I checked out stila eyeshadow in kitten and it seems pretty. how do most people use it? alone or with what other colors?

I have heard the Nars orgasm blush suits all skin tones but when I read some reviews it seemed like it was good on tanned skin. Does it suit very pale blue/pink toned skin?

Re Kitten, I use it alone as I've gone off more complicated eyeshadow looks. Too much effort!

sylphine, I have pale skin and I think orgasm definatly works, although I preffer cooler pink tones for light skin.

I would add Clinique's almost lipstick in "black honey".
I think this would look really good on almost everyone.

At least I love this color. :D

I like Nars' orgasm blush too.

But I'll never get this hype about Maybelline's great lash mascara. It's one of the worst mascaras I've ever tried.

I agree about that, it´s THE worst.

Smith's Rosebud Salve is pretty well loved I'd say!

Another vote for "can't stand Great Lash". :p

I would agree about Smith's Rosebud Salve, but I wasn't very impressed. It wasn't any good as a lip balm. A much better lip balm would be Burt's Bees, because it lasts a long time.

One cult product I really love is NARS' semi-matte lipstick. Although I keep hearing about how it lasts all day, and it doesn't on me. I just love the way the formula looks.

Another is OPI nail polish. I only have one, but it was so very streaky, almost clumpy streaks. The color happens to be Lincoln Park After Dark, and the color didn't impress me much at all. It's a nice alternative to straight black, but that's pretty much all it is.

I love Fracas, is a classic fragrance, of course made popular by madonna cause "its all she wears".

Skinflash, Dior's version of YSL's touche eclat, is much better imo, the shades are more natural and they dont stink up like YSL's. But its a cult cause it gets the job done, nothing less.

NARS' orgasm blush is excellent, sadly, i dont like pearlescent blushes, so its not my cup of tea, but I own it and use it on clients, and its just brilliant. literally.

Diorshow mascara, I dont get it. It's ok, but its not all that, I personally like the pink container mascara from maybelline, the one with the green cap. That thing, just rules.

That Chanel black varnish, its crap, I sold mine on ebay. It chips, therefore, sucks.

Shu Uemura eyelash curlers :) They even got a mention in The Devil Wears Prada movie.

Oooooh want one!! But seriously, are they THAT much better than the $2 variety?

Cult products are my new makeup philosophy because I'm tired of buying expensive stuff that turns out to be hopeless!

How about cult lip glosses and foundations?

DuWop Lip Venom. I've tried it, but I didn't notice much of a difference. But then again, I already have really full lips.

Chanel Vamp Nail Polish. I have it and I love it.

Tarte Cheek Stain. This didn't work on me - my skin is too oily.

I'll never know if these are really that great, because I went with Shiseido because it had higher ratings at makeupalley.com. I quite like it, but it's not like I'm holding gold in my hands.

I agree. Although I wouldn't re-buy, I like it because it really tingles. It doesn't do anything else it's supposed to.

Well if anyone has used a generic el cheapo one and a "fancy" one I would very much like to know if there's a difference! Back in the days when I could be bothered I used to use a hairdryer on my cheap one and got decent results (and third degree burns on my eyelids). There was a bit of hype in Australia about the ModelCo heated lash curler (which is crap, btw), but I keep thinking that a whole new world of luxuriously long lashes and emotional fulfillment may be waiting at the She Uemura counter!
