Daily Exercise

hey guys, i am so tired right now. i'm even typing slowly. so...i wasn't supposed to do anything on fri, but it was so beautiful that i ended up commuting by bike (downtown and then to the south end of the city to help coach/eat dinner, and then back home). yesterday I played 4.5 hrs of ultimate (a one day tourney), and today I had a 3hr practice. i'm so weary that my brain is tired :) but it feels good to have my legs feel all warm and tired.

I like that feeling too :D Makes you feel like you have actually earned yourself a good rest :p

i ride my bike most days at the resevoir. most times it's 6 miles, but yesterday i did 9. today, 6

i go to the gym like 3 or 4 times a week, do 20 minutes on the elliptical, 20 minutes of weight training, and then 20 more minutes of cardio on some other machine.

tee hee! I'm glad that I didn't sound crazy to you :)

today I went for a long walk to flush my legs of lactic acid buildup. I packed my gym stuff in case I wanted to do some strength training at the gym. I uh....did go, but I sort of just pretended to do upper body free weights. ...and then got bored... and walked home in the cold rain.

I have missed my gym for a whole week now cuz I'm sick....I feel so terrible

Walk briskly, jog or cycle every morning awhile after light carbs 30-45 mins. (I don't get how ppl can jog first thing in the morning on an empty stomach?) Protein after that. If it's wet out I use the treadmill. Also bounce awhile on the mini-trampoline. Fun and supposedly good for your lymphatic circulation.
Swim 3-4 times a week after school. Light weights for arms and toning exercises for everywhere else when I feel like it.
I really wanna try yoga despite the fact that everyone's doing it.

wow... i haven't been posting in this thread for ages... sounds like everyone's doing great...

lately, it's been all about yoga and track practice.... i lift on the weekends (i know, i know, maybe not the best idea.)

SoCalled, now that you are online I want to ask you about your stomach exercises! You said awhile back that you were defining your stomach and I was wondering what exercises you are doing b/c I'm looking to turn my semi four-pack into a more defined six-pack! thanks :flower:

I hope you feel better now :)

My right quad is not 100% these days...I must do my stretches and ice/heat so I can practice tomorrow. On thursday it was so hard to have to hang out on the sidelines and just watch my teammates practice and have all the fun. :(

I suppose it's a good thing that i'm being responsible this season and listening to the little signs my body's giving me. ...so little tweaks don't develop into full-on injuries. but it's no fun looking at longterm goals when the short-term inhibits present gratification

let me know what all of you are doing. maybe i can try to live vicariously through all of you...

i'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but i was wondering if anyone could help me.....i'm pretty slim all over but recently i'v started putting more weight on my hips and the bottom of my back, i want to tone up/lose the weight from there because as i sed i'm slim other places and it looks very out of proportion. i know running swimming cycling will improve it, but i was wondering if there are any specific exercises anyone knows of or does for this area?? i know theres crunches for stomach squats for butt etc but i just can't really find any info on exercise for this area. any info would be greatly appreciated!! :flower:

Thanks fashionbebe ^_^ !!! I'm really looking forward to going back to the gym on monday. I feel the need for a good workout :boxer:

today i did 35 min elliptical, about 45 minute shoulders, 20 minutes abs, 1 hr 15 minute walk and some stretching , and I'm going for another walk with my mom later.

I go to the gym at least 3x a week. 2x a week I go to ABT classes...ouch! (but in a good way) ;) My main goal right now would be to start Pilates. I really want to try it!! I heard so much good things about it....anyone have any experience in Pilates???

I take a pilates class since one year and I really like it. ^_^ it is quite 'calm'; but you have to work very concentrated to do it right. it are rather unspectaclar excerises, like just lifting one leg - but you have to 'tense' other muscle areas so that you get from doing 'so little' quite sore muscels the next day.
it also makes a very flat belly :D
but I do something else for your cardio too, cause pilates does nothing for it. apart from that it is great :D

Nope! Alot of people think of Pilates as a thing. Pilates was a man..

Born in Germany in 1880, Joseph H. Pilates had a lifelong interest in body conditioning. As a frail child dedicated to becoming stronger, he later grew to become an accomplished skier, diver, gymnast, and boxer.

While interned in England during World War I for his German citizenship, Joseph became a nurse. During this time, he designed exercise apparatus for immobilized patients by attaching springs to hospital beds. This system formed the foundation for his style of body conditioning and specialized exercise apparatus, which he brought to New York City when he opened the first New York Pilates Studio in 1926.

Power Yoga is great, IMO, but totally different than Pilates. Perhaps try this video: http://collagevideo.com/cart/ShowVideo.aspx?Cart=CIL25GS&Item=5067

Or read Pilates for Dummies. Dummies books are great
