Hi Juliet!!
I really appreciate girls who work-out with all that boys around them, I think it's hard to do it
Anyway, on Wednesday I went to the gym with a friend -boy- at 3PM and there were no big boys!!! So we could do:
*25min treadmill
*15min stationary bike
*15min elliptical
and then we did the machines!
plus abs and some stretching
I think I'm going to do the machine work only on Wednesdays, and the other days I'm going to do treadmill+bike+elliptical. Do you think it's OK?

I think the trainer is recommending cardiovascular exercise and strength training, which sounds like a standard and recommended way to exercise. I think that what you have in mind (bike, elliptical, treadmill & swimming) are great ways to build muscle, tone up and get your heart rate up. I can relate to how you feel about exercising around those big guys and so can many others. I don't think that it should bother you because everyone's there to work out. From my experience, people tend to be self-absorbed when they go to the gym unless you talk to them or if you need help. It sounds like you have a nice trainer so I would recommend telling her what you have in mind and that you're a little apprehensive about getting in there when others are around. Professional trainers are used to hearing about these kinds of things, and they're there to help you develop workouts that you'll stick to. I hope that helps.
