I rode my horse for forty-five minutes last night and half an hour the night before, plus an hour-long lesson (big work out, both horse and rider are drenched by the end of it) on Monday night.
Try both and see how you feel but I would keep the morning runs easy and do the longer faster runs in the afternoons or evenings when you have had the whole day to warm up and get loose.
I did two-a-days for CC in university but our morning runs were always easy runs to go through the motions and get a little extra miles in.
Faster runs including intervals, fartlek, hills, and other high intensity runs we always did in the afternoons--about 3pm...
I do none so whatever... I'm very lazy. I'm buying another horse hopefully some time next week though so I guess that will become my exercise. Which is good because I need some.
