Dario Vitale - Designer, Creative Director of Versace

He can't understand that this lofi, analogical nostalgia, yellow filter, archival crap has nothing to do with Versace.

It is just hilarious how creative directors don't get it. They want to update a brand by taking away everything people love about it and them act surprised when everybody hates it and it's a flop.

It's like that Cracker Barrel rebrand, the Jaguar rebrand.

This is why Chanel did the right thing by hiring Blazy but telling him " there will be tweed, jackets, pearls, camelia. Don't like it? Gtfo."

Versace is sexy, colorful, lots of prints, pretty models and sexy guys. Don't like it? Get the hell out.

it COULD work but he doesnt have the vernacular that he thinks he possesses 😭

if he mixed his boring 2014 sepia tumblr aesthetic with references from the work of great photographers like george platt lynes, willhem von gloeden and bob mizer, the result would be a little sexier, fun and interesting to look at.

versace's latest ig post is so BLEAK lmao, the photos aren't bad (in fact they would look great in another context, outside of fashion) but the last thing i want to be reminded of when looking at versace's ig is the Spanish civil war through the lens of robert capa 😭

Well Versace was shot, and the Spanish Civil War involved guns...

The tea on Vitale's debut:
Then there’s Versace, which won’t stage a runway show either. An “intimate event” is set for Sept. 26.

Versace finds itself in the tricky position of launching a new designer’s vision in the middle of an ownership change. The brand turned loss making in 2025, and Capri Holdings has little incentive to subsidise a splashy debut for a label that’s meant to be off its books by the end of the year.

Beyond financing creative director Dario Vitale’s show, there’s the question of whether it would even make sense to invest in amplifying a new designer’s message just before Prada Group takes over — surely with its own strategy for the brand.

Keeping the circle small feels like a sensible move. The downside is that a scaled-back presentation may struggle to reassure the market that Vitale’s creative vision has secured support from the brand’s new owner. In an April investor call, Prada management declined to comment on whether they were happy to find Versace in a trusted pair of hands under Vitale, who was previously design director at Miu Miu.

Vitale’s departure created an unwelcome hiccup for Miu Miu at a time when the brand is powering Prada Group’s top line. I’ll be on the lookout for signs that the Prada-Bertelli clan have since patched things up with the designer.
BOF

This is corporate speak for "We don't really care about Vitale's Versace and we're expecting him to be replaced with a proper creative director once it's fully under Prada management".

That could work with a different casting, different clothes.

He could also go full indie sleaze, like Decarnin Balmain etc. Lol but they want to "elevate" Versace, so no fun allowed.

I am afraid that Pradas are going to install a studio puppet. As others have said, Riccardo would be great, but with the recent allegations it's probably not going to happen. I can't think of any other designer right now who could do the job.

well for Tisci it was just the one allegation and nothing has come from it right? No admission of guilt or other allegations? So maybe they can ignore it. Heck in Wang can make a come back after what he did, then anyone can.

I see Pieter going to Versace.
I would love to see Riccardo but in a way, Pieter has a case in « sexy » dressing at Alaia.

If he wants international stardom, Versace is the brand.

Matte of fact, Riccardo would be great also at Alaia. The Rupert family, giving their skeletons won’t be phased by the mini controversy Riccardo faced.

lol, are we sure he is definitely out? He’s not even had his first “show” yet. Maybe they will keep him?

Pieter Mulier has good relationship with The Prada, but I don’t see him at Versace – he’s far from that world. Versace in 2025 isn’t more aspirational than Alaia to begin with, I don’t see the reason for him to leave. His fashion might be too experimental for those who love Azzedine but he’s making the house popular than ever before.
