Dario Vitale - Designer, Creative Director of Versace

theres a reason his brand is in liquidation.
we dont need another red carpet obsessed camp designer at versace

What's wrong with being camp? đź‘€

Regardless, it's a shame his label has gone under, I thought he made some beautiful things :(

But I was very surprised to see him open a store on Bond Street so early in his journey, the rent must have been astronomical for a relatively unknown brand. Alas...

Vaccarello would be a good successor though I kinda want him to stay at Saint Laurent!!

Mulier could be good if he doesn’t overly intellectualise everything!!

Hedi could transform the brand in the way they would like but his temperament might let him down!!

Galliano would be an interesting surprise (would support this personally) but not sure if commercially he would deliver what they want!!

Tisci should’ve been on board earlier so not sure if that ship has sailed!!

Rousteing is a slim chance!! Like others have said his version of sexy is too tacky for the likes of the Prada’s!!

No to:
Kim Jones

These would be the top contenders I think not sure if I’ve forgotten anyone else!!

to many camp designers around , intelligent can be also done beautifully or sexy gianni did it also .

yeah store in bond street so early made no sense but so does his fashion for me :)

Aside from Rousteing, it seems like all the top contenders are white gay men as usual :/

Are any women's names being considered?

I'm sure it's a long shot, but I'd be interested to see what someone like Mary Katrantzou would do at Versace, given her background in prints which Gianni was known for - not to mention her Greek heritage which obviously inspired the Medusa, goddess gowns etc. Maybe with her stint at Bulgari she could bring some good accessories ideas too...?

I have never seen or perceived his designs as camp… but I’m not a camp expert so…

also, regarding his namesake brand, I’ve never really dig into why did that happen and I know runway looks are in no way a revenue indicator, but celebrities were wearing his designs more and more and it was giving him at least exposure which eventually, one hopes, will reflect in sales/ profit.
I guess he wasn’t selling enough to keep his brand. which was a shame IMO
I was really surprised and sad when that happened!
this said, del Core’s evolution in terms of design and style would be a breath of fresh air for Versace.

the Prada group did Vitale dirty IMO. if they acquired the brand it’s to have profit and make as much money as it can.
Vitale’s collection generated a tremendous buzz and people were again, paying attention to a brand that was slowly fading into oblivion.
I was extremely curious to see what was he was going to do next. I did not loooove his show debut (and *cough* *cough* final collection), but it left me intrigued enough. and regardless of all the vintage Versace inspirations there were a lot of new interpretations.
it showed that he was focused and engrossed enough. regardless, of what one thinks about it, the presentation and detail showed that he meticulously involved with what we he was going to show.
and this always interests me.

Dundas when he is in true form is amazing, this is still one of my fav shows ever, Maria Carla's walk in the red jacket and flares is everything even the audience had their jaws dropping, models today are not even close

Dundas is a very particular type of sexy though. He is the Cavalli/Lacroix style. It’s very rooted in the 70’s, Brigitte Bardot, St Tropez…Everything has a 70’s flair and it’s like the opposite of Versace in the spectrum of sexy.

His Pucci was great and maybe time was his enemy with Cavalli part 2.

I also liked his Ungaro. They were generous for people who wanted to borrow clothes at the time.

None of those names, please! It´s going to be another case of "same designer, different brand" at Versace...search for someone new, with talent and a vision! Search...SEARCH!!!
