i've only been to a helmut sample sale oonce and i didn't find a thing...

not ONE thing... :(

picked out a 3/4 jacket for my guy friend who was with me...that's all...
the menswear was better....but you can still do better at century...

How old is the stuff at Century usually...1-2 seasons ago? Do they ever carry signature pieces from collections or is it mostly throwaways? Thanks in advance :)

I went to the Theory mens sale and racked up...but I like Theory....I can wear a lot of it to work and it isn't too boring and actually fits me... I also went to the Theory womens sale with my mom and my oldest sister....made it a family affair :brows: :brows: and they managed to get 2 sweaters, both cashmere for around $80....and some pants for about $90 and some other Girls were easily spending $1000 and up there....pretty crowded....

Theory sale info: http://www.clothingline.com
It actually opened to a private preview last Thursday......still worth going I am sure...the mens sale is at the Theory company store on 5th.

Century 21 definitely has major runway pieces, as well as lower end things. They have everything from Balenciaga to Rick Owens to Hussein Chalayan to Versace. And a lot of lower-end items, too.

Century carries tons of stuff. They had a 50% off rack when I stopped in a month ago.

For men I spotted:

Viktor & Rolf
Marni
JPG
Moschino
Marc Jacobs
Costume National
Malo
Gucci
Hugo Boss

and that was just the extra % off sale rack, they defintely carry a decent selection of helmut lang (I would say one or two seasons ago, rarely you see a current season item)

If you are downtown stop in and check around, the stock changes constantly. if you get in after a shipment it is a goldmine...... :flower:

As for Scoop, it always came off as a B&T type of store to me...no offense to anyone and I don't mean to sound elitist by any means. It seemed like all the workers and customers had on Seven Jeans (company requirement perhaps?)
The sales associates were beyond snobby when I went into the Third Avenue (Uptown) store. They are defintely more about trend items and not fashion and do not compare to the better NYC boutiques. Juicy, C&C, Sevens, James Perse....etc....not terrible but not anything to rave about or that can't easily be found elsewhere. Again not knocking these labels but it is what it is....I didn't know they carried Prada and Jil Sander...I can't imagine their target customer for the most part buying such brands, perhaps Prada and only if it was a bag with a large Prada logo.....

Stephanie better get the people at her corporate offices in check.....this isn't the best promotion....... :innocent: :innocent: :ninja:

I work at the corporate offices of SCOOP. Im sorry who ever you spoke to gave YOU incorrect information. ;) :flower:

Faust! I was hoping someone from the forum would stick it out in the rain! I didn't even attempt to make it downtown on a Monday...damn work. A girl I know went and said after the first hour or so the stock was depleted badly, but the pricepoints were very low, people just grabbing away... She doesn't know if they are restocking but I've been to the Helmut sales before and don't recall them ever doing so. Like Soft, I have never found anything but I have never been first in line either.....and I agree about her Century recommendation...
What jobs do people have that they can line up hours before.....I wish I could.
Is everyone at sample sales now buying stuff just to EBAY it? I wish I had gone as I wanted to check out the outerwear. Sigh...back to stalking the Barneys sale racks for me.... B)

Gucci stores are having up to 40% off.
The sale is online at gucci.com as well.

Maybe you should contact Stef and ask her what she buys for the stores :brows:

My intention was not to promote, it was to share public information with all.
But I was quickly accused of misleading and giving false information.

Too bad I was misunderstood, and quickly dismissed as not knowing what I was talking about.:cry:

Oh well, I tried :innocent:
More pieces for ME to choose from at the Sale tomorrow.
Too bad you guys think Im lying

Moving right along.....

Anyone with feed back from the Helmut Lang Sale?

Modelmama I made the Stephanie joke in jest......hence the emoticons.
I cannot speak for others, but I didn't dismiss you at at all, I just offered up my comments from my individual experience at Scoop, which is all I can offer. It just wasn't (more than once) a nice place to shop....and they have no realize to be ultra snobby considering the brands they carry there. You may very well be correct in the brands they carry and I wouldn't call you a liar. I apppreciate you posting about the sale as many people in different cities shop there.

By the way who is Matthew Williamsin? They do not carry that.
They do , however, carry Matthew Williamson

What a facetious comment. Anyone can get a spelling wrong; you knew exactly what was meant. By the way, who is "Jill Sanders"? :P

and the moral of that story is.....people in glass houses etc etc
