i love the persephone but it seems a bit oversized for me. the violet in oxblood would be perfect!!

For those interested in the clutch, it seems it is wider than appears in pictures.

It is about 11 inches wide and 10 inches in height.

Much too big for an evening clutch I think. So I'm happy to give this a miss.

Helen Yi called me today. They are making everyone put down a 50% deposit on the bag they want. I was like call ya back....I HATE doing that. its like if these bags are soooooooooooo hot if a person passes can't you just sell to the next person. Just irriates me.

just a piece of advice for those who dont know already:

the bags are the heaviest on the market right now.
i carried the bag on 2 occasions in his showroom. once in february where the gold part were not hollowed out yet (samples) and it was so heavy that they warned me.
i carried it once more at the NY showroom once it was hollowed out and it was still soo soo extremely heavy that i will admire anyone who will still buy it once they find out for themselves.
i hope they sales people are informing whoevber is in the process of purchasing one

thanks for letting us know! I am not calling back helen yi. They are getting the most of the bags and want us to pay now....I understand having a credit card down but putting a deposit...I mean its not a house, a car, or an apt.

So I am just not going to call back.

A local boutique has me down and guaranteed for the hildegaurd in bottle green and the violet in oxblood.

I have been told by many many many ppl that the persa bag is HUGE gigantic.....and very dramatic. like bigger looking that an oversized muse.

so...I do love big bags....but to me that is limiting.

BUT however, that is the bag everyone wants.

Bigger than an oversized Muse is totally limiting. I can't imagine it being fun to carry around particularly when loaded up. It would be akin to toting a suitcase everywhere each day.

Hildegaurd sounds like a much better size. I'm excited to see these IRL.

I think hilde is nicer. I went form I want one to no...to if its amazing back to know. Just don't want to drop 1800 bucks for a hildeguard new designer bag.

if it were 1300-1500 I would buy it in a heartbeat...but after tax the bag would cost me 2k forget it.

hi everyone! this is my first TFF post in months! i am going to finally stop being lazy and post some info. intermix called me today - they just received the clutches in. i have the black one on its way to me and will report about the leather quality, bag heaviness, etc when i receive it by the middle of next week. intermix has a 10 day full refund return policy so i though i might give this clutch a try. i am very excited!

edit: intermix received both black and burgundy (oxblood) colors in the clutch. if anyone is interested please PM me and i will tell you which intermix has the bags and provide you their phone number. clutch is $990.

I think the hardware centre piece dragon head(upside down)?? It looks like resemble the one Gucci did for their Fall 04 accessories, no??. I much prefer the gucci one.

i agree too with klow that the gucci one is much better. but i still like what derek has done with the ram decor, at least on the clutch.

i notice that lots of designs/ideas get "recycled" by other designers, and i never truly know who came up with the concept first, considering some design houses have been around for such a long time. i should take a course in fashion history or something like that... that would be interesting!

off topic: i went to the ferragamo shoe museum in florence a few weeks ago. i won't venture to say that ferragamo must have invented the platform shoes, but i would say he was very ahead of his time when he designed a pair back in the 1930's (or was it 40'?).

Shopping - can't wait to hear about your Derek Lam clutch. I ordered the (rats - can't remember the name of the style now - the one with the chain straps) in green from Luisaviaroma ages (or so it seems) ago. Since the stores in the US have them already - hopefully mine will be on its way soon.

hey jan!!! i hope you get your bag soon too! did you get the small, medium, or large one?

i actually went into the LVR store in florence about 2.5 weeks ago. very cool store. they did not have any lam bags in at the time, which is too bad since i was hoping to see the clutch there and save on VAT. at least i don't have to pay tax since there is no intermix in CA. good!

Hey shopping I was in Florence last month and visit LVR store as well. Their store is very funky. Do you like the multimedia that was play on their display window?

klow - thank you and yes, the LVR multimedia display at their front window and upstairs is pretty cool. overall, i liked the layout and aesthetics of the store. it was very easy and comfortable to walk around.

soooo, i received my lam clutch yesterday! but i didn't have too much time to stare, play, and take pics since i was helping neighbors move all day and i decided to watch a shakespeare play in the evening. hopefully when i get home this evening i can snap up some pics before bf gets home. otherwise, tomorrow morniing after he leaves.

i can say, though, that hardware is great, though heavy! the hardware is not gold at all like in the runway photos, but aged brass. i love it! the chain on the clutch can be tucked away inside, though i would have prefer it to be removeable since that would have taken some weight off. i will weigh the bag too to get an official weight on this baby. the leather is black grained (not sure if it's lambskin or kidskin...it feels like lambskin) and soft like a fendi spy, though much more textured, but very durable and doesn't seem like it would scratch as easily as a spy. inside the bag is line with natural suede, very VERy soft! i will need to be careful when i carry makeup in this bag. i would hate to get the interior dirty. there is a small zipped interior pocket, good for storing keys, or cc and $$. the ram detailing on the clasp is great - very 3-dimensional detailed. love it! though this is costing me a bit of $, i am likely to keep this since it seems to hold my evening essentials: glass case (don't wear contacts though my eyesight is not bad enough for me to constantly wear glasses), cell phone, some makeup, and a flat flat wallet if i wanted to carry one. plus i can see myself using this a ton, so it will be a good investment.
