I'm sorry, but that was really uncalled for.

Don't get into this again, there have been discussions about this already....enough stereotyping.

Fashion is NOT exclusive to gays, and there is absolutely no reason for it to be. Anyone can have an interest in fashion regardless of race, sex, gender, and yes...sexual orientation.

Ok!
i am new here and i am not aware of what discusssions you all have had here:unsure:
the reason i ask is i HONESTLY DONT KNOW..not to make fun of or stereotype. From all the information i have (ie. from TV), thats the way it is percieved to be.
Not to be pertetuating my sin further:cry: ...but can you clarify one more related matter? A straight guy would be interested in womans wear for exactly what? the clothes or the models?

My sexual partner & and I never discussed his sexual activities while he dated Tom Ford. Considering it was back in the heydays of Studio 54 over 2 decades ago, it's pretty irrelevant.

And saying one is 'bisexual' while one is sorting out their sexuality isn't an admission of bisexuality. Tom Ford has chosen to be gay and in a gay relationship, so the fact is, he's gay. Many gay men go through an initial state of confusion and date/have sex with women before finally getting the guts to owning up to being just gay. This is not to be confused with bisexual men who like both sexes at any time, not just in the beginnings of their lives.
thats what i meant...using the label 'bi' while the person is still unsure about his sexuality...going from straight-->bi> full on gay:flower:

speaking of studio54...anyone have TF's photos while he was younger? would so be fascinating:heart:

Tom and Richard have had other partners while together?:o :o

what DOES Tom see in that old relic of a man anyway:lol: ?

Does ANYONE have any leads into this? or was that just lies?

one does not have to be of the same sex to appreciate the clothes made from a designer, or have to wear them to see their beauty.

Remember that the other half of womenswear is menswear. However, I still enjoy looking at womenswear, as well, both for the beauty and artistry in the clothing AND the models. I don't wear or buy paintings, but they're still nice and interesting to look at. ;)

Basically, most straight guys here (and probably most people here) view true fashion as a form of art and expression.

thanks AlexN and YourBestFriend:flower:

Menswear! I forgot:p :p  ...

Even in menswear, i find it quite boring if the models are not hot. So thats my only attraction in "for your eyes only" fashion. Womenswear- i can actually put to use by buying (ok i wont buy either:p ) or imitating and incorpotaing into my style....

Do any of u buy Vogue or Elle or other so called womens fashion magazines?

I detest most fashion mags like that because they have little or nothing to do with fashion. It's all about trends and "what to buy" (all influenced by advertisers) and what celebrities are wearing (which is laughable, IMO); those things are the antithesis of the art and expression I was talking about. However, I will look at both mens' and womens' fashion mags if I come across them. And they always reaffirm my negative opinions. ^_^

Interesting! so basically you watch the fashion shows and make up your own mind as to what was good/bad and worth buying etc?

that would take up a lot of time....how do u watch all designer shows?

The editorials in the magazines is independent of advertising/commercial interests, rite? Or do the adversiters tell Anna wintour the kind of stories to show? I thought if someone liked fashion, the first thing to do was to pick up VOGUE:p

Edit: ok we are getting off toic now....Does anyone know about Tom Ford please:p

In the Designers and Collections forum here at TFS, we post the pictures of and discuss practically every show from all sides of the globe. A large number of members post in-depth reviews, sharing their varied and constantly-developing opinions, and help shape each others' opinions by doing so. It's very interesting. During the next round of shows, go through all the collection threads and see what I mean. Or you could simply take a look at some recent or older threads. And yes, it does take quite a bit of time, but it's well worth it. ;)

So instead of Anna W. shaping your opinions, someone else is doing the same for you/users here.... Hows that different? i prefer watching the fashion show on TV

getting back on this topic...whats Lagerfelds age?

It's totally different. I'm talking about things such as someone addressing intricacies that may have slipped by others...details that have them appreciating the collection moreso than when they went by unnoticed. And people here aren't trying to sell anything from the collections in their posts. Furthermore, many here seem to have a better eye for things and more general expertise than most of the people writing for magazines like Vogue, anway.

No one here tells anyone what to think and what to go out and buy; people form their own opinions. But there is much to be learned and observed in reading the unbiased thoughts of others.

tFS is not "This is what's hot! It's a must-have! Buy it ASAP!" That is the type of thing that most magazines feed you, whether you realize it or not. tFS as I see it is more inclined toward "Have you taken into consideration [so-and-so]? That might not translate to the street. I'm not a fan of this aspect." That's one of the many things that makes it so great.

OK! Thanks Alex:flower: . For me, viewing all the fashions without someone telling me or distilling the key points or making sense of everything is a bit too much. Its like sensory overload..like all the news channels and not not knowing what to make of it.

Seriously...getting back on topic.....:p

the only straight one i know of is ozwald boetang
and he is definately definately straight

Really?
So so far we've basically established that Yohji Yamamoto, Junya Watanabe, Issey Miyake, Masaki Matsushima (I think),In general most Japanese/Intellectual & Conceptual designersds, and all the "Arte Povera" designers as Raijin said - Vincenzo de Cotiis, Carol Christian Poell, Maurizio Altieri - and there are several (if not many) others that I probably have forgotten or don't know.

What about Naoki Takizawa?- Issey's protege.
Dirk Schoenberger?
Raf Simons
Martin Margiela?
 I've asked over and over again..

So irrelevant, I know :p

And thankyou AlexN and MyBestFriend, couldn't have put it better than that. I am mostly interested in menswear but I often look at womenswear, even if I am not going to wear it. :flower:

So now you know, the designers and collections forum has an immense amount of information. I came here knowing nothing but "D&G!", but that forum has fed me so much information - one becomes quite knowledgeable on the subject. Check it out, women's and men's shows have practically the same relevance there. :flower:
