Designers Switching Houses & Moving to New Brands

I have a feeling that there’re gonna be a wave of collaboration with Kenzo in the future and that sounds like what LVMH wants when they chose Nigo. If hypebeasts are happy, LVMH is happy.

Kenzo x Bape could be the first.

I literally cannot remember anything about Nina Ricci since the Copping days.
Unfortunately, I can remember the circus created by Guillaume Henry... And, what's surprising to me, I must say that the Botter duo was way better than him at Nina Ricci. I think their last collection was strong enough but at the same time, is there anyone who really cares about the brand?

Those two at Ricci were hideous…I believe I roasted every show they did but their first one. I just couldn’t believe the people at that brand were so desperate as to keep them around for their alleged coolness! Good riddance!

This is actually kind of sad, since it seems that the brand is slowly, but surely, closing down.

They haven't had a CEO since September, their boutique closed in April, collection sizes have gone down by 30%, prices by 60% and the only clothing they sell through their stockists seem to be windbreakers and strechy crap.

It's a shame, since they started so strong with an interesting debut collection, followed by a strong pré-collection. It from the second runway collection, when they went downhill.

Hopefully, if or when Nina Ricci revives, be it under Puig or otherwise, and hire a designer with a strong, but suitable vision.

P.S. I feel that the aesthetic of Botter's Ricci (clothing, marketing, image) is quite interesting and unique enough to make a good brand separate from both Botter and Ricci. It gives me "Dries Van Noten through the eyes of Phoebe Philo" vibes. It's just a matter of the one executing the ideas to drop the hats, learn how to make an actual dress and know how to dress feminine bodies.

So this is the reason why he pulled out of the LVMH prize.

Wow they choose someone totally new, without using nepotism from parents, aunts, great ancestors. So controversial. Should have go with Raf, that's enough star power.

I'll wait for the clothes. A house like SF is great to nurture young talents, help hem to redefining their approach with dressmaking. Just look at CDV and Rochas. The house really helps him to design real clothes.

We'll see if this appointment is a success or a failure in 3 years anyway. Maximilian can help to revive Ferragamo, which hasn't been in the fashion conversation since 2015.

Ohhh so that's why he withdrew from the LVMH Award lol. Surprising pick, but I quite like his stuff, especially the menswear. Hopefully he'll spice things it up at Ferragamo, it's been a boring few years.

Hopefully he will remember that Ferragamo is not a fashion brand and design accordingly.
I’m surprised they didn’t went for an Italian designer giving the energy at Milan.

That's a weird choice. Honestly, I don't really know if hiring a young, relatively unexperienced talent is a good decision these days. Fingers crossed it won't turn into another Nina Ricci by Herrebrugh and Botter or, what would be even worse, Trussardi by the GmbH guys because Ferragamo can't even afford it anymore.

I'm scared but also curious to see how it turns out , I guess they try to turn Ferragamo more fashion and enter in the trendy houses club but it can be a risky move.

I guess Ib will be in charge of the styling. So it will go all over the place. Not every house should be a fashion house.

Ferragamo is a nice luxurious brand and should stay this way imo.
