Designers Switching Houses & Moving to New Brands

If DL to JS then who to Burberry ? It’s exhausting to think about new round of musical chairs already…
Wasn't Kim Jones rumoured a few months ago for Burberry? (crossing my fingers I'm making this up)

There was something going on about that I remember but I don’t think Burberry would be willing to pay him seven figures at this point. Firstly that they don’t want to spend that much money on designer giving restructuring and secondly because Kim Jones has nothing to offer anymore neither in menswear and, after Fendi disaster, definitely not in womenswear. I’d bet they promote someone internally or hire number 2 from some other company.

Petty me is like "good- no one should be paying this man any figure to work in fashion", but then messy me would like to witness KJ and Burberry digging through newfound fashion lows together.

That’s my exact feeling and, for me, the relentless collaborations that he loves so much to do would work better for Burberry to 1) become more relevant and cater to their very large audience and 2) give opportunities to other brands/artists to play with the trench and check pattern.

The prices for some of these items are just too damn high.

Just my two somewhat uneducated cents, but prices for a lot of luxury items steadily went up significantly (sometimes even twice the original price) in the last couple of years, especially during COVID. It seems like fashion houses started going after the big fishes, even if it meant becoming out of reach of the upper middle-class.

Except maybe the big fishes don't really care for offerings from the "top" (well-known or "mainstream"?) fashion houses, opting for stuff like The Row, Brunello Cucinelli, Loro Piana, etc.

With quiet luxury trending in the last two years or so, even non-super-wealthy people have become uninterested in some of these brands so I'm not sure if the price cuts will necessarily make as big of a difference as they think will.

No! Great comment great cent, the super rich opted for The Row, Brunello Cucinelli, Loro Piana, etc. the wealthy must be separated. The super rich must leave regular people behind. There must always be a distinction. If you look at the rows bags there are no logos. Logo mania is long gone. It's time to Recede for the rich. During COVID thing got mixed up and the big bosses only saw money, now they are losing so it time to cut prices also fakes are in the rise and the new fakes are really good and some are made by the same people who make the real thing so what are you really paying for.

The biggest difference between what happened in the '80s and what's happening right now in social media. social media talks about it they research, information is very different from when I was growing up. All we had was fashion files and magazines. This is going to be a long battle the only way you can truly win is fashion and design.

^ I can see them in Loewe tbh. Polish Vogue got the same leak and announced few days ago they already departed 😂 so I wonder then Lee will replace them at JS ?

It is easier for him to continue his BV at JS than at Burberry where he struggles to incorporate the codes. Not a Lee fan, but the good news is the duo has gone!
I don't know which duo is worst the ex JS or the proenza boys...
