I agree juice major. But imagine Galliano for Dior Homme and Femme...it would be terrible! Oh well, time for Hedi to come on his own anyway.

Acutally... I think YSL was much better under Ford as creative director and Hedi was assisting him...

Pilati's collection just don't do it for me...

Hedi has never assisted Ford. Not to be rude but it's kinda sad that you believed that till this day..

if Karl don't find a cuter, talented and more skinnier boy then Hedi... yeah... then Hedi for Chanel for sure...

It actually makes sense. Hedi is one of the few designers in the industry to have the blessings of the two "grandparents" of fashion, Karl Lagerfeld and Yves Saint Laurent. They both admire Hedi and have publicly shown their support for him (YSL's infamous snub to Tom Ford and his standing ovation at Hedi's Dior Homme Debut, and Lagerfelds tremoundous weight loss so he could fit into Hedi's clothes). Lagerfeld can't keep designing for Chanel forever, he's going to pick an heir someday and it could really seeing it be Hedi. He would have had YSL if it hadn't been sold and PPR wasn't calling the shots.

I can't imagine YSL parting with Pilati, if you like him or not he is setting the fashion world on fire and has made YSl into one of the hottest and most directional labels. In a few short seasons he's garnered commercial success as well as a number of imatators. He also has the blessing of Yves Saint Laurent...something Tom Ford never could get...along with strong sales and good reviews.

sorry if repost, from vogue.co.uk
DIOR HOMME designer Hedi Slimane is about to realise another ambition. The designer whose skinny suits are as coveted by woman as they are by men, will soon offer a line of skincare that we're all bound to go wild for. "I'm really interested in the idea," he told WWD. "I've always considered the relationship between skin and fabrics so it's a very natural project for me to do." Expect Dior Homme skincare on the shelves by the summer.

On the LVMH website, it says they own Dior fragrances and watches, but then I read this on fashionunited.co.uk:

Dior Homme in NY
Dior Homme is slated to open a 2000 sq. feet boutique in the LVMH mega-store on 57th street in New York, later this year. It will be the first time since Hedi Slimane took over design duties at Dior Homme, that the men's and women's divisions of the fashionable company will be housed under the same roof. However, it's doubtful that this initiative will facilitate his and her shopping trips for rich Manhattan couples. Galliano's girls and Hedi's hommes are an unlikely match.

Go figure.

Actually LVMH and Dior as we know it is owned by a larger group called Christian Dior Group. You can view there website here:

http://www.dior-finance.com/en/index.asp

Under LVMH, Christian Dior Group owns entirely or in great stakes the following: Celine, Givenchy, Louis Vuitton, Marc Jacobs, Donna Karan, Pucci, and maybe some others

Gucci Group which is owned by french group Pinault Printemps Redoute has possesion of Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Stella Mcartney, and Alexander Mcqueen.

There is Prada Group which contains Miu Miu, Prada, Jil Sander, and the now defunct Helmut Lang label. This is headed by Bertelli.

Labels such as Costume National, Bettega Veneta, and Ungaro fit in there somewhere but I forget with which ones.

Houses like Rochas and Lanvin are owned by smaller private businesses and companies.

There is a corportate mega giant similar to Christian Dior Group in the states that owns a ton as well. It's owners are some Taiwanese family.

SS 06 jeans

On a completely unrelated subject , anyone got a hold of the new distressed (ripped,re-sewn) Jeans yet ? What do they look like in person, the pictures on luisaviaroma could be misleading. What is the tag number on these ? What about the new carbon drill stuff ?

Hello all,

I'm new to this place and I was posting in the new Dior thread and was asked to move the following question to this thread instead:

Question for everybody: How many items have you bought from the s/s collection yet? And which? And do you plan to buy more? And what?

I was close to buying the short rebel jeans but I thought I'd only wear them this summer and never again so I didn't. Did, however, buy the checkered t-shirt and the husar jacket and I think I'm going to buy the braces if they're not sold out already.

Bought the original Underground version of the pointy two-tone shoes instead of Slimane's copies.

so whatd you guys think of the new collection?

im still trying to take it in...maybe 1 or 2 casual pieces, the rest ALL formal wear aka things no one can afford or really wear. all the formal wear is super french count. i don't think im feeling it. =/

Hey, I'm new here too.
I was actually planning on buying the Dior two-tone 'Paul Weller' shoes as they're described in the look book, but Noel Gallagher from Oasis was in Selfridges and was watching me try them on! I panicked and couldn't decide whether to buy them.
I agree with the short jeans, I don't think they'll reappear in any other season. I may buy the leather jacket, particularly as it seems to have pretty much reappeared in A/W 06-07, and possibly a white jacket. There's more I can't wait to buy in A/W06/07 though hehe.

Hi, I was wondering how much longer until we see the 07 F/W clothes in stores, and will they continue to sell older items or do they get rid of them all? Thanks so much!

You'll probably have to wait until mid June before FF06 items will be avaliable in stores.

MattS
Hehe:D I saw Noel Gallagher in the Dior store here in Osaka. He bought the FW05 snowflake beane.

From SS06 I've so far bought the suspenders, a 2,8 cm necktie and a barebacked west. I actually kind of like this collection. I think it's better than AW05 which I didn't like very much and it has more edge than SS05, though SS05 was more wearable and had really great jackets. Still it's nothing like pre VotC collections but there are some really nice items and the cut is much slimmer than last three seasons. I couldn't even get my arms through the cropped red checker jacket in size 44.
However, the t-shirts, accessories and belts are worse than ever. Bad quality and boring design.

Ah, cool. Thanks for that picture.

Der_al, how is it not Dior-like? If anything, it's way more Dior-like than the last four collections, in my opinion.

Can I get some people here to contribute in reporting that Argentinian guy on eBay? At least once in a while...maybe even just a couple items out of the lists and lists of sh*t he posts? I can deal with the rest of the stuff okay, but I want to really make sure he doesn't rip off a single person. I would think his account would be suspended soon. His listings have been taken off like three times this week already.

i'll help you alex, just how about do i report him.

what's up with all these new people, we've a sudden surge in the last 2 days.

Me too, Alex :flower:

and yes, I've noticed all these new people - it's because of the Paris collections, particularly Dior Homme, since most of the "newbies" (and welcome :flower:) are asking about/discussing DH in particular.

as to the whole Galliano thing, they're just rumors. I highly doubt it - I asked Iconemod about it as well, and she, being an industry insider, says that they are only rumors and it is unlikely. I think that's a pretty good indication. With Hedi's current status, I don't think they want to get rid of him just yet. No need to worry.
