I think the brand image might be saved for the better if Hedi continues with what he showed for F/W 2006... I was nicely surprised how pure the collection looked like in the showroom, barely any tacky t-shirts, pointless sportswear or bomber jackets.

It's difficult to revive the interest enough for posting when all you still read is comments about $400 dollar polos  barely holding up :yuk: .

I think it will be interested to see what Hedi comes up with in the ss07 collection. ;)

It's probably really difficult for Hedi to come up with a new concept every season. From what I can see of men's collections, they don't have the same variety and can't afford the same arena of creativity that women's lines do.

Perhaps that comes from most men's reluctance to try outlandish fashion. The suit is the suit, despite subtle differences. Hedi was so popular at first because his look was quite different, but wearable.

Women's lines, on the other hand, can be quite insane. Look at Dior Haute Couture! Quite crazy, but if a men's line were to put out collections that were as experimental, the plug would quickly be pulled.

Of course, on the other hand, there are some insanely stylish men that I just can't help but admire for their brave fashion forward concepts.

I think it all lost it's charm after Lindsay Lohan appeared in DH.. :p

I can top that.... last week on the premiere episode of So You Think You Can Dance, the chick who was reporting from each location at one point was wearing the sergeant pepper red satin baseball jacket from this season.

I saw it.... and I didn't know what to think.

That being said... I admit I just bought one of the pima cotton tanks from eluxury at the discount:innocent:

Quality is terrible this season. Anyone with the suspenders experienced cracking of clip teeth? First time I tried clipping them to a pair of jeans I heard a cracking noise... :ninja: I have to say, I am terrified of wearing any of the pieces I bought recently.

Any pictures?

I tried on a trench coat and the black shirt with epaulettes (sp?) and they were both surprisingly nice - the trench was amazing -, but I agree...there was a LOT of sh*t-quality pieces in there...

I agree. The short trench this season is pretty cool... but surprisingly high priced for what you get.

I was at H&M today and they have a black short trench for $100 already hehehe. It's cut kinda generously in the chest, but maybe it's just because the 50 was cut larger... they didn't have anything smaller.

I think it's especially telling that eluxury is selling almost every piece (sans jeans, from what I can see) for half-price. 2-3 years ago you would have to watch the site like a HAWK just to snag anything, and now it's just sitting there, ignored.

Dior Homme, and by association, Hedi Slimane, overexposed the label into the music scene way too much. Rock stars, for the most part, just want to wear what's hip, they have the money to throw around, the glitz; there is no lasting value involved. I would hazard to guess this makes a good number of the 'original' buyers a bit cynical about the label, and now the the rock stars are potentially moving on to other things, where does that leave Dior Homme?

the rockstars who wear dior homme have gone from uber hip and underexposed to ultra exposed and not hip at all.

Well, then why keep buying it?

If I see DH now, I think fashion-victim, I can't help it..

just like DH. Dh was a bit clever to tap into the indie rock niche by basically marketing itself as a band rather than a brand but they should have been smart enough to grasp that the life cycle of being completely synomous with indie rock would be obviously fleeting. which they probably picked up on by f/w 2006. all of the TRUE ROCKERS who blasted the recent f/w collection for alienating them or whatever are the same kids who are now claiming all of the ultra rock inspired collections are a joke now that its officially reached the mainstream. what a bunch of p*ssies.

Thanks for the tip.. I don't even care about DH.. I'm eyeing the Ann Dem pieces now :P
