Dior Homme - posting requires reading thread rules!

First time actually posting on here guys. I'm glad this new thread got started, as it is far too time consuming to navigate through the 1000+ posts on the previous threads.
Much like Winston I also figured I'd post a Dior h. inclined outfit I wore two days ago on the "What are you wearing" thread.

Though truth be told, I reckon I should stop hitting the weights as often as I do nowadays, that is, if I still want to manage my sz.44 Dior pieces (though that isn't much of a problem for items from the past two collections)

Just for curiosity sake, how old were you guys when you first began your inclination towards Dior homme? For me, it wasn't so much an age as it was a natural progression. I always had an infatuation with the minimalist movements of art, the concept of motion portrayed in art (i was particularily in love with robert longo's men in cities paintings), sharp tailoring and adrogyny in fashion, the colors of black, whites and various other neutrals... all of which contained elements of the Dior Homme aesthetic (sans the rock glam aspect of it today). Anyway, it was a Dior Homme s/s 2002 ad that featured Tiago Gass in the "Boys Don't Cry" Love shot wound shirt that finally knocked me off my rocker. So since then, I had a new found respect and admiration for designer Hedi Slimane and began to gather my own fair collection of Dior pieces that today dominates my wardrobe. Unfortunately, this also left my bank account in shambles for a long time to come O_O", that is, until I discovered the joys of eBay!

I first found out about DH around early Reflection when magazines such as GQ started to have photos of the pieces. The very first piece I saw that I decided was a MUST HAVE was the black long sleeved tee with the silver griffon outline on it. So simple, yet so perfect.
Not knowing that there wasn't a Dior Homme store in the US at the time, I drove quite a ways to the Dior boutique when I was in Dallas during that holiday sales period only to find out that it was all womens... very dismayed. I was ready to drop the $300 or so on it haha. I was a bit naive at the time and didn't even realize you could call in orders to Barneys and the like. Yes, I still was wearing Prada sport at the time haha. Ah, those were the days.
I was finally able to actually buy two Dior pieces at the end of Follow Me when I was in Boston. Took the chinatown bus to NYC for the sales and found a gorgeous long sleeved thin sweater with this awesome hidden meshwork detail for a bargain price of $170 (down from $700!) and a red military dress shirt. That basically set the ball rolling.
Unfortunately I didn't fully comprehend the genius of Luster until the sales period when I was able to score the neon blue hoodie. Too bad I couldn't get the signature leather jacket (still hunting for that one). Picked up more pieces on Yoox and ebay including the Follow Me black tee which is probably my most often worn DH piece aside from the orange overdyes.
Come Strip, I basically had the whole phone ordering down, plus I was able to make semi-regular trips to NYC to purchase what I wanted. VotC brought some nice stuff and then some easily wearable pieces the season after, then it's gone downhill with next season being... meh.... and I've seen some of the non runway pieces too from Paris. Still disappointing. The only piece that hold some promise is that spiderweb cashmere tank which I still need to check out. Anyone have a lookbook they can scan in?

I can't tell much from that picture 
as Albert said, there's too much going on. the all of the colors, the guys in the back, etc. etc. it's all taking away from the simplicity of focusing on the jeans. plus, I'm a bit color blind, so it really screws with my vision

Two years ago I became interested in Dior Homme, at the tender age of 14. My mother is a stylist and my father worksin retail, so I have been around fashion much of my life. I do, however, find that my intrest has matured. I used to find myself wanting an item because of a certain color, print, or embroidery...but now I tend to study the cut and minimalistic aspects of peices as stated above. I still find myself wanting some of the more "out-there" peices such as the printed poets bow shirts from the current season, but I am still young so I figure I should wear it while I can.
I know many of you think that the 16 year olds walking around in Dior Homme do injustice to the clothing, but I do not think so of myself. Yes, I may wear THE END T-shirt on occasion, or some of the more "trendy" items, but most of the time I give the clothing a good name. I don't wear Dior because it is Dior, I wear it because I appreciate the clothing itself. I do agree that the past few seasons have lacked in many areas when compared to seasons past, but I still enjoy most of what is being produced today.

I don't think 16 year olds wearing Dior Homme is an injustice...except when it's so obvious 'rich kid' attire, to be honest even though the Dior Homme image is one of youth, the actual people wearing the clothes who are that young usually don't fit into that kind of lifestyle, so it's a very fine line to tread. That's why I don't really dig it when a really young kid is just wearin a "The End" t-shirt or something like that (no offense to you i just mean it as a general statement)...although I think next season's collection might look interesting on young rock types.
For someone really young who wears DH, my ideal image of them would be styling like the ads for Reflection collection...definitely some prep school edge but with some cigarette smoke swagger and 'i don't give a f*ck' hairstyle.

I like your thinking. 
...I am not for the 'rich kid' look either....and I try to wear that tee layered under a sweater or with a button up and waistcoat ...I don't really like it w/o anything over it.

I agree, age is nothing as long as their is appreciation and understanding. I actually have more respect for those that have been 'doing it' (having interest in the arts, fashion, etc) since they were young rather than the adults who have just matured. Nothing wrong with that, but if you start out young, it shows you matured early.

Let me say that I have touched it and tryed it: the quality is poor, although in the pictures looks superb. Plus is very thick, so it is hard to wear it under DH jackets/coats without looking like the Michelin Man.

I first came across the Dior Homme collection when I was 16 years old during a stay in Florence, Italy. Luisa Via Roma had a full-on display with silhouettes from Reflection and I ended up buying a classic tailored overcoat after a VERY intense discussion with my mum, I ended up paying her the whole thing back for almost a year! The thing is, I was more than willing to pay good money for something with a flawless fit, wearing a small size 44, I never really knew how it was like to have a jacket that was intended to go with my proportions, everything I bought up to then had been at least two sizes too big for me, so, yeah, I was very nicely surprised when I tried on that coat and felt like it was meant for me, it´s a very personal motive.
I´ve never had an athletic body so even before, I´ve always been very nicely surprised to see that the boys on the runway were all super skinny, I´ve ever since been in peace with myself cause everybody complained about me, you know, too tall, too skinny for those proportions, just like a scarecrow...
People on the streets are still very much turning their heads when I wear the clothes, or anything else that is skinny as that, I guess for a lot of people it´s still a big no-no for a male to have that type of body. I really enjoy it a lot to play with the shock-value, especially when you go for the very particular, out-there stuff as with all the shiny, delicate fabrics... I always like these kind of clothes best from all the ones that have so far been introduced, the dinner jackets/tailcoats, the spencer, the one button tuxedo and all the chintzed shirting. I know these are traditionally clothes with a codified meaning, but I like to mess around with them, I always happen to wear it for the daytime...
