How about the 06 S/S biker? I think it's quite nice (on the runway). Someone in Yahoo japan is selling a grey one, size 44P sounds delicious.:woot: http://page10.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m24594934

I dunno... that jacket is kinda nasty hahaha. It's like a less-thought out version of that biker jacket from VotC which I didn't like either. i saw it at Sak's actually quite recently and it didn't do it for me.

Especially for that price... yikes!

I mean honestly. Like others have said... on yahoo japan I can score Carpe boots for around $700-800, leather shirts for $1500 and various other stuff for a few hundred as well. I'm likely buying some LMaltieri gloves/mittens and a hat and I feel those are a better deal than anything out this season.

Here's to hoping a throwback to the era of Solitaire in a week and a half. Judging from the other menswear runway shows, it could be a change to more suit-based styling. Could be nice... as long as they bring back the small collar and cuffs!

this evolution thing in the last few posts, i admire how you put it into words and share it. it takes a certain level, a certain eye, a certain character to be aware of what's going on. and act on it. as exemplified in this thread, it's about one's progress on personal taste and an almost spiritual experience on self expression and how dior homme (or hedi?) has acted as an agent for change to happen.

it is sentimental to look back and see what was then for you and me.
it is exciting to see what the future will be, knowing that we've got pieces that are for keeps. and then some.
ah, very soon, dior homme, i dare predict, will evolve and make everyone fall in love again.

and ebay will be alive again?

Matthew, I hear what you're saying. DH as of Luster thru now is a much "younger" look than the very early collections that were very shirt-tie-jacket-suit driven. Of course those were a very natural progression of his time at YSL producing his Rive Gauche pieces. If you see those pieces by him, Solitaire and Red make a lot of sense.

I find myself thinking about buying more "timeless" pieces. When I first got into fashion at the end of high school I had the same mentality... I bought Prada Sport and Gucci... very sad stuff. Nothing logo-y, but nothing of substance at the same time. Like I think I said before, personal style is an evolution. Tastes change, people change, surroundings change and one has to match all that in their own unique way.

I've begun to find a real aversion to anything logoed at all. Even clothes that have something at the base of the neck on the outer back. Anything that is visible I just find obnoxious. Along with this deeper interest in CCP and Altieri's stuff, I find that I want the clothes to speak for themselves.

Your outfit with the Solitaire leather jacket sounds like it's pretty badass. You should post up a pic!

Faust, you do have me beat my friend hehehe. 2.5 hours is a solid one!

I decided to take a pass on that leather jacket. Better things (and more things) to spend $3k+ on, plus I"ll just wait until that other runway jacket/campaign leather jacket shows up in my size somewhere instead of throwing around that kind of money on something I consider 'second best'.

I agree that the earlier stuff is much more timeless. I do sometimes find reflection/follow me to be a bit plain (and it doesn't seem to me to convey the dark feeling of red and solitaire as well). Luster is fun for clubbing and going out at night... I think also that AW05/6 is very wearable if things are styled a bit differently than some of the runway looks - for example, the black and white cape: on any average person (i.e. myself), the cape is a bit 'off', but it can look great and tone down when I wear it draped over the shoulders with the fringe hanging off one arm - I think it looks nice that way and less like a poncho. I also think alot of fall/winter was really practical in general - just different, but certainly better than SS/05, which just comes off as plain when I look at it (even though it has a couple decent things and some good jeans). Most of your criticisms of the more over-the-top elements of DH seem fair, but for now some of them are alot of fun, which doesn't exclude the possibility of getting tired of it sometime.

Here's a pic of the outfit with the jacket I won from your auction:

:innocent: I took this after getting home from the bar tonight and reading the thread. sloppy! But... I love the jacket and the outfit is fun.

matthew, you always get the jackets! just a reminder, you know where the ysl leather jacket will find a second home right?

:innocent:

@ peacefrog: there is a nice little section DH in the quartier 206 departement store at Friedrichstraße, near to the Galeries Lafayette.

I don't really care for the tassels, but damn, that is a sharp jacket! Speaking of Yahoo Japan, I want to try browsing there, but I can't figure out where to go. :/

Well, it`s actually more little than nice. But the oficial shop in the KaDeWe has a really nice range.

Rockin look Matthew. It would look really cool if you cut your hair a bit shorter and sort of messed it up and popped on a pair of sunglasses too!

Matt... that jacket look great on you!!!!

SO you are the one who bought it from albert... well... I wish I had the money to buy it...:cry:

I spent too much money already.. bought 3 pairs of Dior boots in one day...

The black leather jacket on the right from follow me did once pop up on ebay.. The guy who was selling was actually from the buyer of Bagutta NYC. He was asking if I remember correctly $4500. Which is reasonable... consider this is really the only one I have seen.

I have the cotton version in black color and beige.. (yep two same jacket just different color)

The jacket on the left I have never seen it pop up on ebay. Jeffrey had it at a discount which ran around $2000. I was sooooooooo tempted to buy it... BUT, the jacket is more puffed, yeah.. it is not real leather.. and seems to have something that does inflate for the lining, so when I wore it.. it looked like I was a snowman rather then the guy in the runway look.. you know.. the skinny grunge look.. oh well.. back to basics.. I am still on the hunt for past season leather jacket....

Just thought I would post this...
