This is not dipped, but it's giving the same illusion

It looks OK in your posts, saann. In general I don't like it though, this colour transitioning I mean, be it just for the hems or anywere else on the clothes

I totally love this too...Thanks for posting!

question: am i right to say that prada started the trend?

I love it too. It's a nice way to combine colors that would otherwise look overly harsh together - like the pink and navy in the first pics. Worn separately as solids they'd be a tad in-your-face, but here the fade tones the combination down and makes it gentler.

i loved this, its way cute and probably the coolest thing for ss/08

i think it was in general that there is a rise in handcrafts for years now
and this is a part of it
i am sure many people have done it before Prada --it's more that Prada has a wider audience, has the power to be seen through ads, tv, movies, etc.

saaann great trendspotting ! :P i didn't even notice this
it's an interesting evolution from the ombré
although it's more like we are going backwards
i mean i saw this dip-dye in 2005 or earlier

Great thread. I really like this trend a LOT when it's done well bu I also dislike it an equal amount when it's not. I particularly like when it is in a contrasting or odd color, rather than a complimentary one. :flower:

I like this a lot! Moreso at Williamson than at any of the other shows posted, though.

^ that is :yuk:

but williamson is beautiful...
i love the rave/new bohemian look

There are some beautiful interpretations of this trend :crush:

I think it's particularly vile at Lie Sang Bong though :ninja:

Berardi is my fave I think :woot:

Hem dyed....tye dyed. I guess it's being called that to sound a little more expensive. Just like empire is now "umpeer". Either way, it's still empire. You know potAYtoes - potaHtoes.....LOLOL

^Completely off-topic, but empire has always been pronounced that way (umpeer). It's French. People just started pronouncing it correctly.

Back on topic, I really would like this trend to expand into more outerwear.
