Discussion: Who Should Be The Creative Director of Chanel?

Just talked with a friend of mine who’s pretty high up at Chanel & they said the only talks as of recent are to let the design team take over for the next couple of years. They said the suits want another Karl, someone who will retire (or die, their words not mine) at Chanel & not play a part of the CD music chairs.

Then they are stucked with the design team forever and ever...

Oh I hope not but they should keep the team for a year or two. this is why Jacquemus would be a good choice, he's young and fresh and has a lot of room to grow. The older customers will eventually have to be put to rest and replace for new customers which will be in his design sensibility.

The design team sounds better than Jacquemus for me...and they are bad!

No we are no longer letting designers grow like we used to, we critique too harshly also their design team is horrible which is very surprising. that means that Karl was really the force behind that brand what a man
After seeing Jacquemus trajectory, I honestly do not think he can grow as a designer. As a gay p*rn actor surely; but not as a fashion designer.

The problem with their design team is its very very obvious that they are all trying to steal the spotlight from each other rather than having 1 cohesive vision. Otherwise they are quite talented

I have rainbows and purebred unicorns to sell them.

Nicolas! Nicolas! But that’s too long to wait. 5 years…
But I can understand the vision. They needs someone stable at the CD as they will experience some change because of the succession.

Apparently Marc Jacobs is still vying for the position:

Does he know what the kids are into? I'm reminded of this NY Times article from 2018 which claims he kind of doesn't anymore :/

Thoughts?

I would like to see him at Chanel. Classy in a new direction
